Chapter 24

Nixon comes to my room with Quill in his arms and knocks on the door. "Kate? Can we come in?" He asks. I wipe away my tears. "Yeah." Nixon comes in and gently shuts the door,sets the pup on the floor in my room and sits next to my right. He puts his arm around me. "You ok?" He asks. "Yeah, I'm fine." Quill jumps up and down at the edge of the bed and is barking. I bend down and pick him up "Whats wrong Quill?" I ask him as I set Quill on my lap. Quill cocks his head to the left. "Are you two married?" Nixon and I smile. "No, not yet anyway." I say. "Are you two friends?" He asks. "Yes." I say. "He's my boyfriend and i'm his girlfriend." I say. "What dose that mean?" Quill asks. "Well it means that when two people love each other the guy will ask the girl to be his girlfriend and they will go out to different places to get to know each other better." Nixon says. "What's your names?" Quill asks. "I'm Nixon and this is Kate." "Will you two take care of me?" The pup asks. I pick him up and hold him is the air. "Well of course!" I say. Quill barks and snuggles up to me and Nixon when I set him on my lap again. "Thank you, So Kate is my mama and Nixon is my dad, right?" Quill asks. "Well I guess you could look at it like that." I say. "Can you tell me who Nixon is?" I ask Quill as I set him on the floor. "That's Nixon and you are Kate, you are my new mama and dad, Kate is Nixon's girlfriend and Nixon is Kate's boyfriend." He says. "Good job." I say. "Smart pup arnt you." Nixon says. "Hey Nix, you wanna get something to eat? We can get take out and take Quill to the beach." I say. "Ok" Nixon says. "He can ride in my car because you don't have a seat cover in yours." Nixon says. "Who needs a seat cover he can ride with me it'll be fine." I say as I pick Quill up, and go out front to my car. I put Quill in the back seat, then I get in and start the car.Nixon stands in front of my car. "Do you mind if I ride with you?" He asks. "That's what I was planing on." I say. "If you ride up front Quill can sit in your lap i'd feel safer that way." I say. "That's fine." Nixon goes and gets Quill from the back seat and after he buckles up Quill jumps in his lap and Nixon shut the door. "You want the top down?" I ask Nixon. "Alright" After we're on the road Nixon asks. "We're we going?" "Any were and every were." I say. "Hey what you wanna eat?" I ask. "You pick your driving." He says. "Ok but first we've gotta stop by Wal-Mart to get a couple of things for Quill." I say. "Ok lets do it." He says. I turn into the Wal-Mart parking lot, find a spot,park and say. "Wont be long." "Can I come Kate?" Quill asks. "I'm sorry but they wont allow little pups like you in here,I promise I'll be right back ok?" I say. "Ok." "Hey Quill, do you want beef or chicken puppy food?" I ask. "Um.Beef is fine." He says. I kiss Nixon's cheek and get out the car and go into the store. I get a cart and go to the dog section. I find beef flavored dog food and put it in the cart I also find some puppy treats. Next I find a dog bowl and a water dish and a few toys and put them in the cart. Next I find a brush and comb with some shampoo and conditioner.Next I find a light blue puppy collar and leash to match. Then I go to the check out after I pay for my things I go to the tag maker machine and make Quill a dog tag and fix it to the collar and put it back in the bag then I go out to my car and put the things in the trunk of my car then get in the front seat. I drive us to a Chinese take out place then I drive us to the beach. Nixon helps me carry the food out to a picnic table we all sit down. "Hey Nix, hand me Quill I've gotta surprise for him." I say. Nixon dose so and I take Quill to the back of my car. "What is it Kate?" Quill asks. "Well you get three surprises for now and you get some more later." I say. "Ok Kate." He says. "Ok close your eyes and sit." He dose so I attach the leash to the collar and then I put the collar on Quill. "Ok." I say. He looks at his new attachment. "Wow, what is this?" He asks. "It is a name tag,collar and a leash so we can go on a walk later." I say. "Thank you Kate." He says. "Quill, you can't talk in public ok, just at my house, Nixon's house or in our cars ok." I say. "Quill barks and nods. "Good boy." I say. I set him down and shut the trunk then we walk over to Nixon. "Oh look at you! He's adorable Kate!" Nixon says. After we eat, Nixon,Quill and I go walk down the beach.
