CHAPTER 22: REVEALING THE PAST UNTIL THE SUN SHINE

Two weeks passed and the team is really excited for today. Why? Because starting today, we will have a real vacation instead of a training camp. It will last up to the last day of our early vacation. The vacation includes waking up late in the morning since when we have training, Riko always wakes us up even if the sun wasn’t up yet. It also includes a whole week of breakfast, lunch, and dinner of my cooking since when we have two weeks of training at the beach, the team can’t stop flirting with girls. Result? The team tasted the ‘hell’ of Riko’s cooking.

It was already three o’clock in the afternoon and the team decided to take a swim. The team got changed and dove in the water right away. I smiled. I’m already changed to my swimsuit with Riko beside me who is also in her swimsuit. We haven’t hit the water yet. But I think we’re already happy just seeing the players happy. I mean, they were the reason why this team is strong right now.

I saw the team playing a game but I barely recognize it because they were a bit far away for me notice. Suddenly, Kagami-kun coming towards me.

Kagami: Gomen, Tsunade-chan. This was a dare.

Tsunade: What do you—?

Kagami-kun didn’t let me finish what I was supposed to say. He suddenly carried me, bridal-style, to the water and dropped me calmly making me wet.

Tsunade: What was that for?

Kagami: I told you, it was a dare.

Koganei: And the captain is doing it too.

Tsunade: To who?

Mitobe-san pointed at the sand to Riko. I looked at that direction and saw Hyuuga-senpai already carrying Riko to the water. He dropped Riko the opposite way Kagami-kun dropped me.

I can tell that Riko was pissed but she smiled anyway. She stood up and walked up to me who is still sitting.

Riko: *whispers to Tsunade’s ear* I’ll have my payback when we returned to school. Remind me when I have forgotten about it, Tsunade-chan.

Tsunade: *smiles and gives a thumbs-up* I’ll remind you.

Riko nodded and started to play water fight with the guys. The team started to play and even the quiet Mitobe-san started to laugh but quietly that I can’t even hear it. I stood up and joined in.

After playing and having fun at the beach, we finally are resting in the rest house. I just finished cooking dinner and the team started to eat. After eating, Riko announced something.

Riko: Since there will be no training this week, we will divide our chores.

Koganei: Chores? Why do we have to?

Riko: You wouldn’t leave all the chores to me and Tsunade-chan, right? As far as I know, we’re coach and manager not maids.

Izuki: Then what will be our work to do?

Riko: Tsunade-chan and Mitobe-san will be in charge of cooking our food. Kuroko-kun and me will be in charge of washing the dishes in the morning, Izuki-kun and Koganei-kun will be in charge of washing the dishes in the afternoon, Hyuuga-kun and Kagami-kun will be in charge of washing the dishes in the evening, and all of us in charge of cleaning the rest house.

After Riko announced our responsibilities, we decided to play one game before we sleep. It’s a simple game of spin the bottle with a twist. Riko will explain it for you later on. We sat on a circle. Riko has a bottle in her hands and placed it in the middle of our circle.

Riko: This game will be easy. This is how it works. I will be spinning the bottle and whoever the bottle points at, will be doing a dare or answering a question which you will answering truthfully.

Hyuuga: *pushes up his glasses* This will be fun.

Riko span the bottle. It spans, span, and span again. It stopped. The bottle pointed at Koganei-san.

Riko: *smiles* Truth or dare, Koganei-kun?

Koganei: Dare?

Riko looked around. It’s already dark and probably all the people are asleep now.

Riko: I dare you to yell, ‘Seirin is the best’ at the top of your lungs.

Koganei: But … it’s already dark.

Riko: Don’t complain to me. *folds her arms* You’re the one who chose a dare anyway.

Koganei-san sighed and stood up. I heard him whisper, ‘This is going to be embarrassing.’ to himself before he took a deep breath and yelled, ‘Seirin is the best’ at the top of his lungs as Riko dared him to. Suddenly, I saw some lights lighting up and heard the people complaining. They must’ve been annoyed. Koganei-san sat down, embarrassed.

Riko span the bottle once again. And guess who the bottle pointed at? Me.

Riko: Tsunade-chan, truth or dare?

I went dead silent. If I choose dare, Riko will let me do an embarrassing dare probably and if I choose truth, I have to answer a question that no lie should never be made. I sighed. I guess truth is better.

Tsunade: Truth.

Riko: Mmm… (I thought she’ll choose a dare. This will be difficult.) …

Tsunade: Don’t you have a question, Riko-san?

Riko: … I have one!

Tsunade: Then what is it?

Riko: I’ve been wondering for a long time about this. What happened on middle school and why do you seem to avoid it whenever I ask you about it.

Tsunade: Technically, you just asked once.

Riko: Just answer the question, Tsunade-chan.

Tsunade: Fine, I’ll answer it but… it will take a long time. It will probably take until morning.

Riko: That will be fine. I’ll listen to you all the way.

Tsunade: *sighs* It all started when Nii-san decided to play basketball...
