The Five Elements

Long ago the world was divided into many countries. There was extreme chaos and turmoil, but it seemed that it was getting worse.

In the years following of a nation's downfall roise a dictator. This man proved to be ultimate chaos for the world. He killed his citizens, upped the military for his own gain, and worst...he started the greatest war that the world has ever seen. More than half of the human race was destroyed in cold blood before he was finally killed. The person who was able to complete such a difficult task was the first person to house an Elemental spirit inside their body. They were able to house the Elemental spirit that could control all the water on earth, including the water inside living creatures. And soon after these events four more people housed an Elemental spirit, the last four Elemental spirits fire, air, earth, and lightning. These five human beings soon were known as the Great Sages.

Years later, after mastering the techniques to be able to control all five elements, these five humans set out to find others that could do the same, just not on as large a scale. They found that a person has to have a certain amount of spiritual energy to be able to control elements. Once they found people with that certain amount or more, they taught them to control the elements. Soon quite a few human beings were able to do just that.

And even when the Great Sages died, this power and techniques did not die with them. The five Elemental spirits sought out new host that were worthy of their power. These new host kept these techniques from dying out, and this process kept going.

In the present day there are mages, people with the ability to control the elements, and the Sages. Of course there are still people who can't, and they make up most of the population. The ones who can do such protect the Queen who rules over the whole world. In the past, because of the Sages, the world was united under one ruler.

Another thing that's in the present is the school where people with high enough spiritual energy go to become mages, but they are usually nobles who have enough spiritual energy. You have to get through this school to become a full-fledged mage. This, of course, is at the age of 20. The school is set up to were you have a certain group that's in between three ages. For example, you'd start this school when you're 11, and you'd start by studying everything you need to know to be a mage. When it's the ending ceremony where you move up you have to be 14 or be turning 14 before the next ceremony to go into the next group. This means your group is of 11-13 year old kids. Once you're in the last group on your last ceremony when you are 19, you graduate this school and become a mage. If you want to you can become a captain which in this case means teaching a group of kids attending this school. You'd have to teach up to 10 kids, and they'd all be in one of these groups. The groups that are of 14 year olds and older go on missions that help with their learning and give them hands on experience. This also helps them learn there weaknesses and strengths.

In the world of mages you are always advanced with controlling one element and always have trouble with controlling the element opposite of the one you are advanced with. An example of this is if you are advanced with water. If you are advanced in controlling water than it is harder for you to control fire and vice versa. If you are advanced with controlling air than you have trouble controlling earth. (and of course vice versa.) With lightning it's a little different because it doesn't really have an opposite. When you specialize in lightning the way you act determines what element you have trouble with. If you have a fiery attitude it's more than likely that you'll have trouble with controlling water. With lightning it all depends on your personality. All of this even includes the Sages. They are extremely advanced in controlling all elements expecially the element that their spirit is but there is one that is their hardest to control.

In this time there are such things as soul mates. When you kiss your soul mate, a marking of their first and last initial appear somewhere on your body. The problem being with finding your soul mate is that if your soul mate dies you go through extreme, excruciating pain.

There are problems in this world. One problem being spirits. Some spirits like to act up and cause problems. The missions that the mages-to-be go on usually have to do with stopping these kind of spirits. Another problem being that there are people that are against the Queen, but that's what the Sages are here for. They are here to stop wars. The biggest problem in the world at the moment is the fact that there's no Fire Sage. There hasn't been one in a century, and no one, not even the other Elemental spirits, know why.
