Chapter Four

"Good morning!" Selena said. I looked up and threw her a pillow.

"Stop screaming," I told her while wrapping myself up to her comfy comforters.

"I'm not," she said.

"You are and you're making my head hurt," I retorted.

"Well that's because you drank quite a lot of drinks last night," she said in a matter of fact.

"I did not!" I argued.

"Yes you did and if not, why are you having a hangover then?" She smiled smugly at me.

"That's because I...I don't know?" I said in defeat when it dawned on me that I did not have an excuse. "What happened last night by the way? I did not recall us coming home."

"About that..." She smiled. "A guy named Chris said she found you running down the stairs and luckily he caught you before you stumbled at the last step. Real classy, Miley."

"Oh, Chris." was all I could say.

Selena gave me a look.

"What?" I asked in confusion.

"Tell me." She urged me.

I sighed. I told her everything that happened to me last night- minus the part where I accidentally entered someone else's bedroom because it was too embarrassing.

"Gotta go," Selena chirped.

"Go where?" I asked.

"Morning jog," she said simply while doing laps.

"Can I come?"

"You'll be puking your guts out so just stay here and endure the aftermath of a hungover." She said and I threw her a pillow again.

"You're a bad friend," I laughed.

Monday came and I sat to where my usual seat was; which was at the back of the class. I plugged my earphones when suddenly the Jocks sitting in front of me started talking about this girl named "Belle".

I spotted Chris and he was grinning from ear to ear. "Yeah man," he said. "We talked and she was really pretty."

"Yeah and she's hot," Justin chimed in.

I blushed from my seat. I did not even get why I came up with name "Belle" that night. I mean, it's cool but it's all mushy like the Disney princess's Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I should've just said "Beyoncé" but it's a mouthful and it doesn't seem believable.

"Too bad she goes to West High," Chris said.

Oh and that. Ha. I guess I was good at lying after all. They should cast me in the next installment of Pretty Little Liars. The catch is that I'm not pretty at all.

Today we had Maths and Mr. Landon decided to pair up the class. Usually I would be left alone because the number of students in this class is odd. However, there was this new Asian student so I guess I won't be all by myself this time.

"Today I'm adding up a little twist," Mr. Landon announced in enthusiasm. "I'm gonna be the one to pick your pair based on my random name generator."

Everyone groaned, except me. I was fine with it. Just don't pair me up with Justin and I would be in peace.

Mr. Landon started pairing everyone up until he reached the last four. Me, the new Asian kid, a redhead Cheerleader, and Justin.

"Tori and our new transfer student from China, Lee." He said. "And then Justin and Miley."

"Are you serious?" I asked but I think it wasn't loud enough for anyone to hear.

"Now sit with your partners! We only have half an hour to do this activity," Mr. Landon announced.

Everyone started to gather up with their pairs except me and Justin. I just stayed at my seat and kept a poker face. Justin sat two chairs apart from me and when he glanced at my direction, I froze. If he's thinking that I'll be the one to approach him, he's wrong. He's dead wrong.

"Justin? Miley? Why aren't you seated together?" Mr. Landon asked.

"I think my partner got her ass glued to her chair, Sir." Justin said and everyone laughed.

"Watch you language young man," said Mr. Landon.

At the end, he won. I was the one who went to him. I was embarrassed and I didn't want everyone believing what Justin had said about my ass being glued to my chair.

"You're rude. You know that, right?" I mumbled as I took a seat beside him.

"And you were stubborn. You knew that, right?" He mocked.

I gave him a look of disgust as I took my Mathematics textbook.

"So Nerdy, do you know how this goes?" He asked, pointing at the equation that Mr. Landon gave us.

"How many times do I have to tell you that my names not Nerdy, it's Miley." I sneered.

He raised an eyebrow at me and I rolled my eyes at him.

"What? Can't spell it?" I said as I took his notebook and scribbled my name in there with bold letters, making the word Math not that subtle anymore since my name pretty much took every space of his notebook. "And to answer your question- no, I'm bad at Math."

"You're lucky that I'm good at this subject," he said as he snatched the pen from my hands and began solving the equation.

I slumped from my seat and observed how serious he looked. He got his back hunched as he scribbled possible answers on a scratch paper I provided him.

"...And we're done," Justin announced with a smile on his face. "That was a lot easier that I thought."

_________

To be completely honest, I suck at Math too. Well I can do addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and all that thaangs since I'm actually a part-time cashier at a hardware. But still, math and I don't get along and it surprises me why I have (somehow) a satisfying grade at it in school. Ha. ;)
