Most of the things we do because we think we have no option but to do, turn out to be life's greatest turning points or lessons.
Waking up for prayers was hard. It was torture itself. It reminded Mya of the days way back when they would hide from the matron to avoid morning preps. The problem is that with time it got interesting with the guided meditation.
The group work was annoying too. Some times fetching water, other times washing the whole camp's dishes, other times cleaning. But one thing Mya loved was martial arts with the group instructors. Every time she trained, she remembered that fateful night she was used and imagined her return as a pro, ready for revenge.
The food wasn't exactly what you described as good but it was bearable due to the energy lost during group chores and training. The lectures weren't what you called boring but just hang in there. They taught about happiness. How it comes about. Man's purpose on earth. Some of the topics were real interesting.
Mya sat zoned out in the lecture room. She was imagining how they would go to swim in the lake after this afternoon was done. She had made quite afew friends and it was a relief that Calvin and Ariel were doing well too. Class had become more interesting since she became friends with Clark.
He was usually attentive and liked asking questions. The lecture went on."human beings are at the blink of destruction.they have two conflicting minds with the evil mind acquiring evil and the original mind striving for goodness by overcoming evil. Any being with such contradiction is doomed. Do you think originally, God created human beings with two minds so he could judge those who couldn't overcome evil?"
Clark raised his hand. "Why then are we like this? And what can we do?" The tutor replied nodding his head from side to side and looking around at everyone in the room. "In Romans chapter eight, st.Paul laments, for my mind desires good and the law, but there is another law at work within my body against the law of my mind. Wretched man i am."
"What should we do? How do we solve any problem?by finding the cause and treating it. What could be the cause of this contradiction? Its what Christianity refers to as the fall of man."
The whole room burst into laughter when one Joseph, says what's the fall of man got to do with this? Tutor kept on. "Dear boy, the fall of man is humanity's decent into ignorance. There's two types. Internal ignorance about stuff like where do we go to after death. Purpose of life and external ignorance about the physical rules that govern the external world"
"Man has tried to overcome this ignorance in two ways. Religion for internal ignorance and science for external ignorance. What started as a way of finding truth ended up in conflict. Religion and science are now parallel. Since the fall, humans sole reason was to find the truth and overcome the ignorances. There fore a new truth must emerge that puts an end to the conflict between religion and science and that is the same truth that will help us overcome that contradiction. "
Mya was very glad when the lecture got done. She saw Clark turn around looking to where she was seated. She pretended not to notice. "I think i like this guy," she thought.
