I watch as the pastor talks and four men bring Mom's coffin into the ground.

"You can say your final goodbyes now..." He says.

I walk over to the coffin which is almost placed into the ground with Daddy holding my left hand and Ivan in his other arm. Uncle Louis stands next to my father.

I place a small white rose and a goodbye letter to my Mom. I know that I won't be like other kids who will have their Mom with them all the time. I'm scared.

"Hey, Mel. I'll see you soon, okay? We're going to be a happy family again..." Daddy cries as Uncle Louis takes Ivan from him. He lets go of my hand and sobs, letting the tears fall down onto the now shut coffin.

My mind spins as I finally break down.

I am never going to see Mom again.

I am never going to hear her voice again.

No more good nights and I love you's.

No more fairy tale stories.

She's gone.

Forever.

I end up sobbing uncontrollably and my knees shake. Auntie Eleanor tries to keep me still but I end up thrashing onthe ground.

"Mommy, I love you!" I scream as the coffin is placed into the ground.

the letter

Dear Mommy,

Wherever you are, please know that I love you more than anyone else. You are my angel and you inspire me so much. I have a lot more letters hidden under my pillow but I didn't get a chance to bring them since I didn't want daddy or anyone else to read them. I hope you can get to read them when you have time.

Mommy, losing you has been so awful. They're burying you tomorrow and I don't know how I will react. Daddy and everyone else have been so lonely. Who will be there to read me stories? Sing to me? Who Mommy? It will never be the same.

Bye for now Mommy. Don't worry. I will visit you all the time and bring you your favorite flowers.

I will miss you, Mom.

Love,

Darcy
