"Class dismissed" Mrs. Schnizer, my Math teacher, announces as she erases the chalkboard. "I will see you on Monday for your homework. Have a good weekend"

I quickly stuff all of my books into my bag.

"See you Sky" I say and hug my best friend. She hugs back as well.

"Try not to miss me too much, princess" she laughs and I can't help but smile.

"Hopefully I won't" I tease and she elbows me in the tummy. "See you, Monday" she waves.

I make my way down the hall, avoiding any encounter with 'the bullies', and wait outside the parking lot for Dad. After a few minutes, a familiar black car parks right in front of me. The tinted windows go down revealing one of my favorite Uncles.

"Uncle Loubear" I singsong.

"Darcy Warcy" he teases as I take a seat on the passenger side and place my bag on the backseat.

"That's getting old. Like you" I laugh and he pouts. "What's wrong?"

"You've grown up so much, ya know? Only like yesterday I was changing your diapers" He jokes. I end up hitting his arm and our laughter fills the car.

"Where's dad?" I ask through fits of laughter.

"He had to do some errands" he shrugs. "He asked me to pick you up. And guess what?" He smiles widely.

"We're going to my place!" He announces happily.

"Oh yeah. FIFA here I come" I cheer.

"You've been practicing? I bet I could still beat ya" He tells me as he puts the car in drive.

"Not really. I've been so busy with Ivan and Dad and school, it gets all jumbled up" I mutter and lean my head by the window. "How's Auntie El and Lyla? I haven't been over there in ages"

"Lyla finally said her first word" He smiles thoughtfully.

"Really?" I grow curious.

"Yep" he says, popping the letter 'p'. "She finally said 'Mom'" and a sharp pain hits my chest.

I miss Mom so much and I would give anything and everything for her to be here by my side. I envy Lyla for Ivan. Ivan's first words were Dada and I doubt Daddy's gonna teach him how to say "Mommy" without breaking down into sadness.

Uncle Lou must have noticed my quietness and taps me on the shoulder.

"I'm sorry" he sighs. His eyes, avoiding my gaze as he looks at the road ahead to the all too familiar neighborhood where I grew up in.

"It's fine" I huff and close my eyes, tears threatening to fall.

"Really, I didn't mean to upset you. I know it's been hard for you, baby. It's been hard for all of us, really. Especially for your dad." Uncle Louis explains.

Mom, I miss you.
