"Hey. Reckon you can get some dirt out of this?" I questioned, pressing my phone to my ear. Amara hummed and static arose on the line.
"It'll take a lot of digging, you know that, right?" Amara said.
"I know," I sighed. "But I need her taken out, like as soon as possible. She and Jack are starting to flirt and whether they're joking or not, she's gotten between us."
"What a bitch," Amara commented. "Right. Just e-mail me the rest of the info and I'll text you back later."
"Cool," I remarked, cutting the call immediately. I then proceeded to save links on a document to my USB, which I slipped away into my makeup bag. Jack would never look in there, right? Even if he did, what on earth is he going to do with a USB stick in there? He'll think nothing of it.
Mark: meet me at 03:00am in the lobby. we need to talk, it's about signe and jack.
Bryony: i'll be there.
JACK'S POV
"I don't know, man, just a load of weird stuff has been happening ever since I got with her," I sighed, running a hand through my hair.
"Like what?"
"I mean, she totally hid from me that she had millionaire parents," I started, poking at the fries on my plate. "And then she started doing loads of drugs and nearly got herself killed, where she then revealed she was bipolar. And she was charged with her mother's murder before this, but they said she was innocent. Now the friend that suspected her has gone missing, and now her and Signe are like, butting heads-"
Mark laughed. "Just sounds like a lot of drama you're blowing out of proportion. Look, a lot of those things she was doing wrong will be because of her disorder, right? So let them slide for now. And she was deemed innocent, so what's the problem? And obviously her and Signe are going to butt heads, you've been flirting with her all weekend."
My cheeks immediately felt hot. "I have not!"
"Yeah, you have," Mark scoffed. "She's been complaining to me about and at first I thought she was just being paranoid but now, man, I- I see where's she's coming from. Maybe you need to step back a bit and appreciate the positive things rather that looking at the negative things."
"Maybe you're right," I agreed, scratching the back of my head and dumping my fork. "She's probably asleep now, but I'll talk to her in the morning."
"Good thinking," Mark said, swallowing somewhat uneasily. "Here, I'll get the tab and we'll call it a night. I think we've all had enough," he said, and the others agreed with tired yawns and mutters.
Once we'd all dumped our pay into the pot and been given our receipt, we walked off. I shoved my hands into my pockets, lagging behind the rest of them as I tried to catch up with my thoughts. What is it that I really wanted right now?

BRYONY'S POV
It was almost three in the morning, and I'd been sitting up in bed chewing my thumb anxiously. Once there were only five minutes to go, I slipped some sneakers on and a red hoodie with a bright logo on the front of it. Noticing that his phone was lit up with notifications, I slid it into my hoodie pocket. I briefly touched my hand against Jack's cheek and he smiled warmly in his sleep, but I retracted the touch almost immediately as if his skin were a naked flame.
I slipped out of the room and made sure to lock the room behind me, just to make sure that Jack wouldn't be able to follow me out, though there was little chance of him waking up in the first place anyway.
The lobby was eerily quiet apart from the idle receptionist and the janitor sweeping the marble floors. I stood by a wall, feeling pretty silly until I felt something solid on my soldier. I turned to see Mark and I looked at him with a sharp gaze.
"I know what you've done," he said firmly.
"What I've done? What're you talking about?" I asked coolly. "I thought we were here to talk about Signe and Jack. You know, the problem."
"I know," he sighed. "And for good reason, too."
"Okay, so what is it?" I questioned, folding my arms.
"Signe knows. She knows absolutely everything," he warned me. "There's proof. She found your Tumblr."
I suddenly felt very defensive. "My Tumblr?"
"Yes. You know, the one where you stalked Jack for years until you found him, let's say, a year ago? Just around the time you stopped posting?" He questioned, and I felt my jaw tighten at his words.
"You're making stuff up-"
"Stop," Mark snapped. "Cut the crap. I get it. Signe did the same - she was a super-fan of mine before I introduced her to Jack. I thought she was a normal girl, you know, and things started to slip. She told me things about myself that I was pretty sure I hadn't told her. We were friends, and then Jack came into play and she switched."
I bit back my anger. "That bitch."
"She's threatening to ruin my reputation - and yours. Look, I'll see if I can keep Jack distracted," Mark said. "And you... you do your thing. She's staying in apartment 212," he nodded, and I, hesitantly, nodded back in agreement.
"Wait, Mark," I paused, fumbling for the phone in my pocket. "Jack's phone."
He eyed it before breaking out into a grin. "You're smart as hell. Keep ahold of it and I'll see what I can do with his laptop and stuff."
"Cool," I nodded, turning away and shoving my hands deep in my pockets. Oh, the next few days were going to be fun.
