WARNING: cliff hanger, mystery

You'd think that being the majors daughter would mean you'd have to wear dresses all the time, but for you it doesn't.

Dresses aren't really your thing. But this ball requires one so you went and picked out a dress that would suite your personality best.

It's a two piece. The top part has a couple of light pink roses on it with some purple and yellow while the bottom is layered with purple lace.

Your mom did your hair in a sort of half bun with loose curls kind of thing.

All you could think about, though, while you look in the mirror is him. Dan.

That mysterious boy from the garden. Everything about him was perfect. All the boys you know are super snotty and proper.

It's disgusting. But Dan has this vibe of darkness and excitement that you can't really describe.

"So, where's your date?" Your mom interrupts your thoughts.

"I have to go meet him some place."

This raises suspicious and she puts hers hands on her hips like any mother would.

"Excuse me, you have to meet him somewhere? Who is this boy? You're making me worried."

You step forward and place your hands on her shoulders.

"I promise you that he's a good person. We will meet you there okay? You can trust me."

With that you let go and grab your purse and converse. There was an hour long argument about your choice of shoes but you ended up winning.

You leave the room and exit the house.

Usually you take the route that goes through town and passed the horse stables, but this time you choose to go the back way which shaves off about 5 minutes.

As soon as you arrive, you're in shock. Fairy lights hang off some of the bushes and drape across the whole garden. Who did all of this?

Your question seems to be answered as you round the corner and see what looks like a completely different person than the goth boy from yesterday.

His suite and tie is on point and his hair is almost untouched from how it looked before. But overall, he looks amazing.

His smile, though, as you approach him causes you to blush like crazy. His brown eyes scan your entire body, not missing a single spot.

"Wow, look at you. Even more beautiful than this garden."

You take a few steps closer to him, face red as ever.

"Thank you. You clean up just as nice."

He gives you a closed lip smile before lifting his arm out for you to take. "Shall we?"

You nod and take his offer.

"Okay, but how did you do all of this?" You ask, looking up towards the sky.

"I came here last night and thought it needed a little more light."

Your yes shift to his then in front of you.

Dan calls for a taxi as you reach the busy streets of town.

Luckily one pulls over and you both climb into the back.

The car ride over to the venue is short and quiet. But you do notice something about Dan that wasn't evident until now.

He looks nervous. Not the kind of nervous you get when you go on a date with someone. The kind of nervous that makes it seem like something bad is about to happen.

Maybe you're just reading his body language wrong. So instead of asking, you ignore it.

The venue is even bigger and more incredible than your mother had described it to be.

Everyone around you is arriving in fancy cars, buses, and even a couple chariots. But there you are, with an extremely handsome man, jumping out of a taxi.

"Wow." You say aloud.

"Wow indeed." Dan whispers in your ear.

You look at him and grin. Damn he's hot.

"Let's go inside." He suggests.

As you walk up the front steps and to the front door, you can't help but notice that everyone is staring at you guys.

A part of you thinks maybe it's because they're aware that you're the mayors daughter but another part of you thinks they're looking at Dan.

You enter the building and are amazed at the amount of people dancing and talking and just having a good time.

After gazing around, you spot your mom and step dad and pull on Dan sleeve for him to follow you.

"Mom!" You shout.

She turns around and smiles as you approach. She gives you a hug and then makes eye contact with Dan.

Her smile kind of fades.

"Oh, is this your date?" She asks.

You furrow your eyebrows in confusion.

"Yes, his name is Daniel, but he prefers Dan."

Dan shakes her hand gently, "It's nice to meet you, this party is lovely isn't it?"

The strange gloominess starts to fade as he talks with her.

Your step dad is too busy talking to a couple of moms to notice your presence.

"Hey," You turn around to see Dan, "Let's get out of here."

You grin playfully. "But we only just got here, and I barely know you."

You cross your arms over your chest.

"I'll tell you everything you need to know as soon as we're away from all these people. Deal?"

A tempting offer...

You take it.

There will be one more part to this.
