Chapter 20: Confrontations

"Do you want to go see that new movie at Santio Theaters, babe?" Bakugou asked.
Kirishima sighed.
"What? Am I doing things wrong?" Bakugou said angrily.
Kirishima rolled his eyes and looked away.
Bakugou grunted and looked away.
"You're fine, Bakugou. I think it's just me." He said.
"You've been acting different lately." Bakugou noticed.
Bakugou and Kirishima were holding hands as they walked through the gates.
"W-well... It's..." Kirishima began.
"Hey, are you embarrassed of me?" Bakugou urged on.
"N-NO! I'm--"
"If you don't like me anymore just say so." Bakugou insisted.
Kirishima raised his right hand to his face as his cheeks turned red.
"J...Just let go of my hand! We're in school!" He whispered breathlessly.
"Well, I thought we were a couple."
Bakugou commented.
Bakugou looked straight ahead without glancing over his shoulder as he spoke.
Kirishima looked up at him.
You're the only one that declared that we were a couple, baka! Kirishima thought.
"Bakugou..." Kirishima said.
"It's Katsuki." Bakugou said.
"K... 'Kugou... Ah-"
Bakugou stopped and grabbed hold of Kirishima's shoulders.
"Listen, if there's anything you want to talk about JUST TELL ME." He demanded. "I know we're not a really good couple and it feels like we're growing distant BUT YOU STARTED THIS! IT'S ALL BECAUSE OF YOU!" Bakugou yelled.
Kirishima looked down to the ground.
"Th-that's why I brought you here early..." He whispered. "I think we're a really good couple! I think you're the best there is even if you are a little mean! I know you've changed. I know you're good... Even if no one else sees that."
Kirishima nervously played with his hands.
"B-But... You and I both know what's going on. What's going on in our minds... What we are trying not to see."
A set of footsteps were heard coming down the pathway.
Kirishima and Bakugou looked back.
Midoriya and Todoroki set foot on Yuuei grounds.
They walked by without noticing their presence.
"So, Midoriya... What would you like to do today?" Todorki asked.
"W-WH-WHA..." Bakugou was shaken.
"WHAT THE HELL?!" He yelled, clenching his fists and gritting his teeth.
"C-c-calm down, Bakugou!" Kirishima begged. "Let's not look! I know--"
Bakugou blasted his explosions and made a pathway to catch up to them.
Leaving Kirishima in the dust.
"YOU BASTARD!" Bakugou yelled.
Todoroki stepped in front of Midoriya and pushed him softly aside.
"S-Shouto?" Midoriya asked softly.
"YOU'RE USING FIRST NAMES NOW! HOW COCKY!"
"Stay back, Izuku." He warned gently.
"THAT SHIT JUST PISSES ME OFF EVEN MORE!"
Todoroki put his left hand up.
"TRYING TO FRY ME, HUH?"
Bakugou swung his right arm and activated his quirk point blank.
"DIE!"
At that same moment, in a instant, Todoroki raised his right hand coating half of Bakugou's arm in ice.
"Be respectful." Todoroki spoke.
Todoroki walked away with Midoriya in his arms.
Midoriya looked back with a distressed expression.
"DEKU!" He yelled in frustration.
Don't look at me like that you fucking nerd! Bakugou thought.
Bakugou broke free from Todoroki's ice as it melted away.
"B-BA--BAKUGOU!" Kirishima yelled.
"I think it's time to face the facts!" He said angrily.
It was the first time he ever saw Kirishima so angry.
Bakugou's inner self shook.
Kirishima activated his quirk.
"Let's fight." He suggested.
"What?" Bakugou asked. "Are you crazy?"
"SHUT UP AND FIGHT ME!" He insisted.
Kirishima ran at him full speed and slashed his cheek open.
"You'll see how it feels to be completely ignored! And to be second place." Kirishima's voice wavered.
"So you're mad because I was upset with Deku?" Bakugou asked.
"Who cares about that dipshit?"
"YOU DO!" Kirishima yelled.
Kirishima reached out again and slashed his left arm.
Bakugou activated his quirk.
"In these six whole months I've never laid a hand on you! I've never done that for anybody. And now you're making me?!" Bakugou shouted.
Their fists collided and their quirks clashed together.
They battled it out until six fifteen.
Thirty minutes later they fell to the floor beaten and exhausted.
"Man... That was rough! I brought you here at five thirty... Now it's six!" Kirishima huffed, checking his wrist watch.
"Yeah... You're one crazy bastard!" Bakugou puffed, staring at Kirishima.
"So what did you want to tell me?"
"The only way to get through to you is through fighting. I know this is one crazy way to say it but... I can't do this anymore."
After Kirishima's strong willed statement both of them remained silent.
"So this is how you're going to end it?" Bakugou asked softly.
They both lowered their heads.
"How are we going to keep on with this? When you and I both know we're thinking about other people?" Kirishima answered.
"But... I do love you." Bakugou replied.
"So do I." Kirishima said back.
"Then... Do you think we met at the wrong time?" Bakugou asked.
"Yeah. I think so. There's nothing worse then meeting the right person at the wrong time." Kirishima responded.
"I'm not gonna lie... I care about you too much. I think about Deku all the time. But I always think about you too."
"Then... I'll be the one to do it." Kirishima answered.
Bakugou gasped.
They both looked up at each other.
Kirishima's face expressed sorrow.
Bakugou's mirrored fear.
"I really like Kaminari a lot! And it's not fair to keep him waiting! I know it's not fair to keep you from resolving your problems with Izuku. So just... Get along already, okay?"
Bakugou's expression turned into sorrow.
"I like you too. More than I should! I mean... I love you. But... This relationship has already died."
Bakugou flinched at Kirishima's choice of words.
"I never thought that breaking up with someone would hurt this much. It's hard... really hard!" Bakugou cried.
"Let's do it together." Kirishima said positively.
Bakugou rubbed his eyes, sniffed and nodded.
They stared at each other directly into the eyes.
"Let's break up." They said in unison.
Smiles crossed their faces as they began to laugh in sorrow.
After a few minutes everything fell silent.
"Best friends?" Bakugou asked.
"Best friends!" Kirishima answered.
