Gone | Oikawa Tooru | Part 2/2 | Gender-neutral

*Trigger warning: suicide

You were on a search for Oikawa, thinking the worst

You always thought that you'd be the first to break. To leave this world.

But hopefully you were wrong. Maybe he needed time to himself.

You walked around asking people if they had seen Oikawa, most of them said no. One person was able to help.

"Oikawa - where have I seen him," the person said. They put their index finger and thumb on their chin.

Your hopes were high.

"Ah, now I know!" they continued. "He went over to the bridge that overlooks the river."

Your heart plummeted down. Maybe you were right. Maybe he was gone.

"Hey, good luck finding him."

"Thank you!" you said, and bowed slightly.

You ran to the bridge, as fast as you could. You had run into a few people, but when you ended up at the bridge, you were okay.

The area was vacant, only weighing your heart down even more.

"TOORU!" you called his name out. There was no reply.

You tried again.

Silence.

You began to deny that Oikawa was gone. He's alive. This is just a dream.

You slumped down, your back on the rail. You drew your knees to your chest. You began to weep quietly.

You always thought you'd be the first to go, but now, it was him. Now that he was gone, you had no reason to go on.

Memories could heal you. Oikawa was your happiness, and those memories just seemed to pain you.

The world was pressing down on you.

Stretching you around, like a rubber band. Stretching more and more, seeing when you break. Today was the day both you and Oikawa would break.

You stood up, and crawled through the bars of the bridge.

Beneath you there was icy cold water and rocks. The bridge was very high up off the river.

Today was your last day on this world. You began saying your goodbyes, mentally.

You farewelled your parents, your friends, Iwaizumi, and your deceased boyfriend.

You closed your tear-filled eyes. You lifted one foot off the small ledge of the bridge, and began to move it forward, ready to feel the last few seconds of your life. That was until someone took a hold of your wrist.

You turned around to see Iwaizumi glaring at you. Your heart pounded.

You slipped back through the bars, coming face to face with Iwaizumi. He raised his hand, and slapped you.

You weren't in shock for long. It was only a second later when you began to question him.

"What was that for?!" You asked scary-quiet. You brought you hand to the side of your face where Iwaizumi had hit you.

"What do you think you were doing?" he countered with another question.

You couldn't bring yourself to say it. It tore your heart even more. It broke you into dust.

But, Iwaizumi needed to know. You had to face the last of the pain. Maybe it would be better?

"T-t-oo-ru is-s go-ne," you'd stammered.

Iwaizumi slapped you again. You didn't bother ask why, he'd explain in the next moment.

"You don't known that!" Iwaizumi said fiercely. "He could still be alive! You shouldn't be jumping off bridges because you think he's gone. Hell, you shouldn't be jumping off bridges at all!"

The words too a few seconds to sink in, but once they did, they eased your wounds.

You wiped your tears with your hand.

"You're-re right-t. Th-thank-k you," you said in between hiccups. You pulled Iwaizumi into an unexpected embrace.

**********

The two of you walked around and called out for Oikawa.

"Tooru!" You yelled.

"Oikawa!" Iwaizumi shouted.

You sighed, being careful to make inaudible. If you showed any sighs of panic or anxiety, Iwaizumi would hit some sense into you. It would temporarily calm you.

You wanted to say something, and you began carefully.

"Tooru's not here. I think he's gone, Iwaizumi," you said. Keeping your voice steady and calm.

"Shut up! He's not dead!" Iwaizumi said.

"Okay," you responded.

The sun was fast a sleep, by now. The stars and moon illuminated the sky, serving you guys as good lighting.

Soon, you got really tired and needed a break. Iwaizumi stayed around the area for Oikawa hunting.

You walked down to the river to cool off a little. And that's when you saw him.

Oikawa was curled up in a ball, muttering something to himself. You walked closer, and called out his name.

"Tooru?"

Oikawa turned to you. His face lit up at the sight of you. He got up, and ran to you. Tears sprung to both of your guys' eyes.

Oikawa pulled you into a tight hug.

"I'm so sorry," he apologized. "I couldn't take it after our conversation. I came here, but when I was about to drown myself, I remembered you and Iwaizumi. I couldn't bear for me to be the death of you. I couldn't face after what I almost did. I stayed here, but I regret it even more now."

Oikawa pulled away slightly, and faced you.

"You could have died. I'm so sorry. You could never forgive me. No matter what, I love you. Please stay in this world with me longer."

You nodded, and you were taken back into a hug.

The two of you stood there together, embracing each other until minutes later Iwaizumi came.

Oikawa was safe, and now you were safe.
