Mahima had just taken a shower and gotten dressed. She was drying her hair with a towel, when Laksh approached her. She dropped the towel and smiled up at the man.
She was starting to slowly drop her guards around Laksh too. He was only ever kind and considerate towards her.
"Aditya's outside keeping watch," Laksh informed. "I came to ask you what you wanted to eat. I was going to leave to get some food."
Usually they would order from dhabas and Laksh would be the one bringing the meals to them. The closest dhaba was an hour away.
"Anything you bring," Mahima said with a smile. "Thank you."
Laksh nodded and was about to leave, but he hesitated for a moment and stopped in his tracks. Then he turned to face Mahima again.
"I know this is a strange request, but keep an eye on Dev," Laksh said. "Actually, he feels lonely at times. He has nobody."
"What do you mean?" Mahima asked.
"He's pushing himself away from you... purposefully," Laksh answered. "When he acts cold, it isn't because he doesn't like you, but it's because he likes you a lot."
Then Laksh disappeared, leaving Mahima stunned. Dev liked her a lot? Her heart fluttered at the thought. She couldn't help it. She liked him a lot too.
Mahima left the hut and joined Aditya outside.
"Hey," she said softly.
"What are you doing here?" he asked, sounding irritated.
"I just wanted to talk," she murmured.
Aditya looked ahead, ignoring her.
"Laksh went to get food, so we have maybe two hours alone... I wanted to get to know you," Mahima informed.
Aditya turned to shoot her a glare.
"Get to know me? Have you gone mad?" he snapped, and then he started to cough.
Mahima held his shoulder gently, but he pushed her hand away.
"You were okay with me in the beginning. Yes, you were rude... but now it's like you only want to go far from me. Why?" Mahima asked him softly.
Aditya took a deep breath.
"Look, I don't feel well. Please leave me alone," he told her.
Mahima frowned. He didn't feel well? She placed her hand on his forehead.
"You have a fever!" she gasped.
"Go inside," he ordered.
"You go inside!" she argued. "Take rest! I'll keep watch!"
"Don't make me mad," he warned.
"Go inside... please?" Mahima asked. "Nothing will happen in two hours. Nothing has happened in these two weeks!"
"I am not going inside," Aditya replied firmly.
"If you don't go inside and take rest then I will... I will do something!" she threatened, not knowing what it was that she was doing. "Please Dev, please go in."
"Why do you care?" he asked her, frowning.
"I just do," she answered, not completely understanding why.
He stood up angrily, knowing that she wouldn't stop annoying him if he didn't go in. He placed the gun in her hands.
"If anything happens, you have to wake me up," he informed.
She nodded.
"Right away," she agreed.
Then he went inside and laid down on the bed, his body feeling relieved. After she was sure that he had fallen asleep, she entered the hut and smiling, she rested her head on the bed.
"I don't know what I feel for you... but I feel a lot... and what I feel makes my heart move. It makes it flutter and fall. This feeling makes my eyes well with tears. I really can't explain it," she whispered to his sleeping figure. "But at the same time... I can't forget about him... the one I've always been waiting for. My Adi."
She took a deep breath and narrated the tale of the little boy that she had grown up waiting to meet again...
"Where are you Aditya?" Mahima whispered through her tears after she was finished.
Just then, there was a large explosion outside, causing a sleeping Aditya to wake up with a start.
"You should have been keeping watch!" he yelled hoarsely before he grabbed the gun from Mahima's hands and ran outside.
Terrified, Mahima ran outside too.
