Surprised was an understatement for what Mahima was feeling right now. Ajay seemed to have heard their conversation, and immediately her heart shattered into many more tiny pieces as she realized how hurt he must be to hear his wife confessing that she loved another man.

Ajay walked up to the two of them and he took Mahima's hand almost authoritatively. Mahima didn't retaliate. She allowed him to hold her hand, because he had the right to. She was his wife before anything else, and she accepted him as her husband completely.

"Do you think I didn't know it was you?" Ajay asked, looking Aditya in the eye. "I knew immediately who you were when Ishaan brought you in... the only reason I let you stay here, was because of Mahima."

Aditya watched Ajay with a neutral expression on his face. He wasn't scared of the other man. He wasn't even afraid of Mahima's reaction upon finding out that he was a terrorist. Right now, all he wanted was for her to know what kind of despicable man he was, and why she couldn't be with him. All the cells in his body were trembling to be with Mahima, but he knew that they weren't meant to be. He knew that she had done the right thing by moving on, even if he was hurt by it. He knew that although the hope in him had remained in tact, he had still given up.

His mission, his promise, his drive was what he had been holding onto in the last twelve years. Mahima had been a distant memory, and even though he loved her, love hadn't been enough for him either.

"Me?" Mahima asked out loud, seemingly shocked by Ajay's revelation.

"I knew he was your Dev," Ajay explained. "I knew from twelve years ago actually."

Mahima gasped loudly and she pulled her hand away from Ajay's.

"What?" she asked out loud, a hurt expression in her eyes. "You knew I was crazy after him and you hid it from me?"

Ajay nodded slowly, holding a neutral expression that matched Aditya's. Aditya knew that he could take his gun out, point it at Ajay's chest, and kill him on the spot, but he couldn't do it. He couldn't bear the thought of seeing Mahima in so much pain. Perhaps if she hadn't been his weakness, he could.

"I hid it from you for your sake. You would go even more crazy if you knew the truth," Ajay explained.

"How could you?" Mahima shrieked, looking more angry than Aditya had ever seen her before. "All this time, I told you I loved Dev! I told you I loved my Dev... I told you to find him! And you knew? You knew this whole time? You let me believe he was missing, that you couldn't find him?"

"Listen to me -" Ajay started, but was cut off by Mahima.

"You only wanted my body right?" Mahima accused, sounding livid. "You only wanted me to accept you. You only wanted to sleep with me, and to show your mom and the villagers you had a wife! You never cared for me!"

Tears fell down her cheeks and she glared at Ajay. Her shoulders were shaking. Aditya wanted to hug her tightly and tell him he was there for her. He wanted to tell her that he would hold her until the end, and that she didn't need Ajay... but he couldn't do it. He couldn't do it because he knew that Ajay had done the right thing.

If Ajay told Mahima that he was a terrorist, perhaps she would spend her whole life in a self-loathing state, cursing herself for falling in love with a terrorist.

"I love you Mahima," Ajay told her softly, reaching towards her and Mahima just pushed him backwards.

"Go and die!" she hissed angrily. "I don't need you."

"But I need you," Ajay told her, his words still soft and soothing. "If you hear me out, you'll know why I did it."

"Nothing you say can justify that you've been lying to me for twelve years! This whole relationship is a lie!" she screamed. "You did this so I would stop waiting for him and move on with you... why does everyone have to betray me?"
