What did he say? Did he really just say his name was Aditya Velhankar? Was she imagining it? Did she want to hear from her Aditya for so long, that her ears had heard the wrong thing? No... this was too real. Still, she couldn't believe it. It was too bizarre, too strange, too much.
Mahima stepped towards the man she was in love with, her hands laying limply by her sides, in a zombie-like fashion. She wanted to hear him say it again that his name was Aditya Velhankar. She wanted to hear him say that he was her childhood friend, her very first love. A childish love, but love nonetheless. She wanted to hear the words come out of his mouth that this was not a lie.
"A - Aditya?" she asked, seeking confirmation that she hadn't heard wrong.
He nodded and whispered, "Aditya."
Mahima fell to her knees in front of him and placed her head on his lap, grabbing the side of his legs tightly. This was her Aditya. He had come back, like he promised he would.
"Aditya," Mahima repeated, tears falling onto his clothes. "My Aditya... my Aditya..."
She was sobbing uncontrollably now, her heart lit with a strong passion that was showing no signs of faltering. It didn't matter to her that her husband was right next to him, watching the scene with a hurt expression on his face. Nothing mattered to her anymore. All she knew was that her Aditya was back in the form of Dev, a man that she had fallen hopelessly in love with.
If Aditya had shown her the first spark of love, then Dev had turned it into a flame, and Ajay nurtured that flame for all these years. Now this man, her childhood friend, had come back, when that flame was burning stronger than ever. Now, she didn't want to let him go, because this flame was too strong... burning too brightly.
She pressed her cheek into his thighs and tried to compose herself, but she only sobbed harder. She never thought she would see Aditya again.
"Why didn't you tell me?" she asked painfully. "Why didn't you say that you were my Aditya?"
"How could I tell you?" Aditya asked, his voice cracking. "What would you do if I told you?"
"I wouldn't ever let you leave me," Mahima whispered.
"Exactly. This is why I couldn't tell you," he told her.
Mahima finally lifted her face from his lap and looked into his pained eyes with her own. She shakily stood up and stepped in between his legs, cupping his face in her hands, his stubble grazing her palms.
Ajay looked down.
"You - you are a liar," she whispered to him, tears rolling down her cheeks. "But I can't help it... I still want you."
"Don't want me Mahima. You don't know who I am. Rather, you don't know what I am," he told her, bringing his hands up to hold her hands against his cheeks.
"I - I know," she whispered, and leaned down, resting her forehead against his. "A - Ajay told me that - that Aditya Velhankar was a terrorist."
Tears fell into her hands and he choked out, "You still want me?"
"No... I don't want you anymore," Mahima whispered. "I need you."
"I'm a terrorist Mahima," Aditya whispered back. "I'm one of those people you hate... I haven't ever had the intention to save you. I took you from your father to kill you... not to protect you."
Mahima let go of him and looked into his eyes with shock.
"You took me to kill me?" she asked him, sounding hurt.
"Then I fell in love with you," he murmured, as she took a step back, sobbing.
He stood up and stepped towards her, but she took another step back.
