The song for this chapter is "Hero of Our Time" by NateWantsToBattle. I originally wasn't going to have a song for this chapter, but this song came out last week. I fell in love with it. xP I swear, the mix of music I love is so random. XD
This last week has been really rough on the Mianite fam. RIP Tonja. </3 RIP Alec. :'( (Watch Tom's "bad news" vlog if you hadn't heard.) I'm hoping nothing happens to Jordan or James. (though I guess James's computer giving up the ghost a few months ago might count?) I can 1000% understand why Jordan keeps his relationships (if there are any) private. (I kinda wonder if Tom does this too. Then again it would be hard to maintain a relationship when you're constantly globetrotting. XD) I digress. I love them all regardless.
This is the last feels safe chapter potentially. Definitely the 3 after this will be feelsy. I haven't decided what level of feels to make the ending, though I'm trying not to make it depressing (maybe more bittersweet and hopeful). We'll see what truce my muse and I can reach. I can't believe we're drawing close to the end...
*Waglington's POV*
I could feel someone shaking me. Ugh, my head was killing me. Did I go drinking with Tom and Dec again? I should have known better after last time. "Hey, he's coming to," Tom said from somewhere nearby. I blearily opened my eyes only to close them again when I was blinded by a mage light inches from my face.
Bloody hell, that's bright, I thought, shielding my eyes with a hand. I heard dust and gravel fall from my robes when I moved. What?
"Sorry, sorry," The person holding the mage light said. It was Sonja. The light moved away from me, and I opened my eyes to see we were in a dark, close space carved out of rock. Tucker, Sonja, Tom, and Mot were here.
Don't you forget about me! Memento shouted in my head, popping into view. He had been lying down next to me. He was covered in dust but seemed otherwise unharmed. My friends were worse for wear, covered in bruises and scratches where armor wasn't dented. Tom was missing his tie and appeared to be favoring his left leg.
It came back to me suddenly where we were, and I tried to sit up. The movement made me lightheaded, and Sonja easily pulled me back down to have my head resting on her lap. "Easy, Wag. You got hit pretty hard. Jordan will be back with a healing potion in no time."
I reached a hand up to my head and felt something wrapped there and a bump on my left temple. Oh, that's where Tom's tie went. Just lightly ghosting my fingers over the bump made me wince, and I could feel blood striking through the makeshift dressing.
No sooner had I looked at the blood on my fingers then Jordan reappeared from his spectre dimension with a healing potion in hand. "I found it! Man, am I glad Martha had me store her bag in there," He said with a laugh. Then he noticed I was awake. "Wag! Thank goodness. We were getting worried. Oh, here, drink this," He said, remembering why he'd fetched the potion.
"Thank you, Jordan," I said, taking the potion and draining it with Sonja helping me sit up enough to not spill. I felt better almost immediately, but Memento sat on my chest to keep me from getting up as my friends discussed what to do now. Sonja idly ran her fingers through my hair while they talked. The tunnel nexus had collapsed, and the others weren't with us. I mentally reached for Martha, ignoring Memento's warning against it. She should be nearby. Don't be such a worry worm.
I found her. Wag? Is that you? Oh, thank Ianite! Are you okay? I felt you get hurt, Martha said quickly.
I listed off who was present in my group and our injuries; with the people in her group, everyone was accounted for. Despite my assurances, I could feel her worry. Martha, I'm fine. Jordan got me a healing potion from your bag. She still didn't seem very convinced. To be honest, my head still hurt a little bit. If it'll make you feel better, I'll eat a golden apple too, I offered. I'd packed a dozen just in case.
