We sat in a comfortable silence, all of us caught up in our own thoughts. Mostly about what would happen throughout that night.
A door slammed in a kitchen catching us off guard and making us jump.
"Hello is anyone there?" Luke spoke loudly in the direction of the kitchen.
"Let's go check it out." Logan insisted.
"I'm coming." Luke jumped to his feet excitedly, ready to investigate.
"Me too." Kylie said bravely, "I'm not staying here without Logan."
"Me three." Elliot insisted, standing up with the others.
I looked at Elliot with pleading eyes, "Don't go."
He thought about it for a moment before coming back and sitting by me.
"Don't worry I'm here." He smiled then hugged me gently.
"Ok let's go." Logan huffed, clearly annoyed of waiting for everyone.
"Don't worry ladies I'll protect you, oh and you too Elliot." Luke grinned mischievously.
"I hate you." Elliot grumbled under his breath.
Luke, Logan and Kylie went to investigate the kitchen, leaving Emily, Elliot and I, sitting in a dark silence.
"This spirit business is creeping me out." Murmured Emily.
"Me too." I agreed.
A few minutes later Logan and Kylie came back, Luke following closely behind.
"So what happened?" Elliot questioned instantly.
"It's windy outside." Logan told us.
So the door slamming was just the wind, that makes sense.
"But the doors locked and the keys are on the shelf, there's no way the door could open in the wind." Logan explained, he couldn't have kept the details to himself.
"It was the spirit wasn't it?" Emily pointed out the obvious.
None of us wanted to believe it was the spirit but we all knew it was deep down.
"Let's ask her." Elliot finally spoke.
We replaced our fingers back on the planchette.
"Spirit was it you closing the door?" Luke asked confidently.
I could feel the planchette tugging to the 'yes', I would be lying if I said I wasn't terrified at that point because I was shaking with fear.
"Should we say goodbye?" Luke asked the group.
"You can't ask if we should say goodbye dumbass, you just do it." Elliot hissed.
"I'm not leaving." The board spelt out making us gasp in horror.
We looked at each other unsure of what to do next.
"Um...do you want to tell us anything else?" Luke asked unsurely.
We all looked at Luke in disbelief, this evil spirit told me my grandfather was a murderer, scared us all to death and now wouldn't leave and Luke asked if she wanted to tell us anything else, well done Luke.
The planchette moved towards 'yes'.
What she wanted to tell us couldn't be any worse than what she's already said could it?
