Sorry I don't personally like this part, but ya know...

As we ate the first meal of the day, the air was tense between Ariadne, Theseus and me. She looked down at her plate the whole time, and never caught eyes with either of us. Her father made several attempts to make conversation with her, but all her answers were either shrugs, nods of the head, or shaking of her head. Not a word passed her lips. When she was all finished eating, she rose without a word, like a ghost in the night, and drifted silently out of the room, not saying a word to anyone. Theseus and I exchanged looks. Mine was triumphant. His was tentative, and a little worried. What had we said to damage her so much she refused to speak, even to her father? I had no time to worry about that though. After I finished eating, I was hustled off to my room by the servant girl I recognized as Apassionata, who said simply that she had been ordered by the Princess to lock me up for the rest of the day.

“Oh, and my lady also said to give you a message. ‘You’re being detained for awhile to let you sit upon what you have said.’” Apassionata recited carefully. “She said you would know exactly what she meant.” She added, shooting me an expectant glance. I nodded. I knew what the princess was talking about.

“Can you take a message back for me?” I asked, having in mind just what I wanted to say to the princess. Apassionata looked taken aback.

“Oh er, well I- I suppose I could.” She said carefully. I smiled at her knowingly.

“Oh that’s good, because I certainly have something to say to her. Tell her, Thank you for the fuchsias.”

And with that I walked into my room, and shut the door gently, leaving the servant girl Apassionata standing in the hallway, very much confused. I plopped onto my bed, and sighed. Once again here I was, being locked up in the hands of the Cretans. One glance down to the maze itself, and I became instantly completely depressed. When where they going to sacrifice us? Why were they treating us like guests here? Was it because they felt like fattening us up- like raising a pig for slaughter?  It was cruel, but if it bought me time, I would take it. Of course, I could never fully enjoy myself here, not matter how beautiful it was, or how much food I was fed, because a nagging in the back of my mind always wondered when? It always scared me that they would not give us any warning, and simply wake us up one day and dump us in the labyrinth. Just then, there was a knock on the door. “Come in.” I mumbled, wanting company more than anything right now. The door was flung open, and Theseus stood in the doorway, eyes blazing.

“Do you have any idea what you just cause down there?” he asked rashly. I blew a piece of hair from my face listlessly.

“No. Why?” I asked unconcernedly. He rolled his eyes.

“Of course you don’t. Sometimes I think you are so oblivious to the damage you cause to others,” he said, annoyed.

“Why, what happened?” I asked dully.

“Well, for your information, when the slave girl went to Ariadne, we heard her say something in the hallway to her, and she started shouting up a storm.” I laughed, cutting him off short.

“So…have anything new for me?” I said teasingly

"Don't realize! This is just going to kill us off faster, Xenia! Her father will notice how reckless we are and chuck us in the maze all that much quicker!" he explained, annoyed.
