My mom was waiting at the airport for me. I love her to bits, she has always been my rock to lean on and my best friend. Seeing her now only made me realize how much I've missed her and how lost I felt my first year that I've been gone. I never thought I'd have to go through certain stuff without her, like picking out furniture or choosing my first apartment.

Seeing her this happy to see me and being hugged by her as if the world is ending, made me feel like I can finally breathe a little. "Honey I've missed you so so much! I can't believe you are actually here." I can see the tears of happiness in her eyes.

My heart breaks for her, I know it couldn't have been easy on her or my dad. "Me too mom and I'm glad I came. I just wished it was under better circumstances."

"Don't you worry about that dear, the most important part is that you are here now. Your dad has been driving me crazy since the day I told him that you are coming." I just answered her by hugging her again and this time I was the one holding on for dear life.

The ride home was quite, I think mom knew I needed time to compose myself, she knows me way to well. As we drove I glanced at her realizing she aged since I last saw her. She has wrinkles around her eyes and mouth, her hair has gotten thinner and a bit dull. Suddenly I felt like I missed so much precious time with them which just makes me want to cry even more.

Once we got home memories started flooding back to me. My brother and I swimming in the pool, mom and I sitting on the porch drinking coffee and talking about our day, my dad mowing the lawn ... no wait ... he is actually mowing the lawn?! I thought he was sick. I smell something fishy here and I know I'm about to find out what it is.

"I thought dad was sick?" Her smile faltered on her face and mumbled something incoherent, but she quickly recovers and gives me a 'I'm sorry' expression. She giggled nervously and that's when I knew something definitely was up. "Well about that ..."

I know the chapters are a bit short. I'm still getting into the writing mood.
