I spun on my heel and walked back to where Lee was sitting.

After a few silent seconds, I heard Bennett's heavy boots clunking after me.

Lee glared at me as I sat down next to Aaron. "You stole my bacon, then ran into Bennett and never even got to eat my bacon?"

I nodded my head and rolled my eyes. "Yup. That sounds like what just happened. It's your fault really."

He looked at me incredulously, "How is your failed thievery my fault?"

I returned his incredulous look. "You don't know? Don't you remember the 'never feed a stray because they come back for more' rule? You fed the stray and he followed you home, ruining my thievery attempt."

Bennett pulled out the chair next to Lee and sat down heavily.

"And now you are stuck with me," he agreed.

I narrowed my eyes at him for agreeing with me, waiting for the jab that I knew was coming. He looked at me innocently and shrugged his shoulders.

I looked away and reached over to grabbed a piece of bacon off Aaron's plate.

Aaron looked at me like I had just kicked a puppy. Not any puppy, but a sick puppy. He pushed his plate further away from me and followed the gesture with his chair, scooting away.

I shrugged at him and stuck the bacon in my mouth.

"So, what does mister begging puppy want?" I asked when I swallowed my bacon.

An unexpected smile split Bennett's face.

   "Awe! You think I'm cute!"

I just looked at him stunned, not able to form a coherent sentence.

"Um, did you not just listen to what I said? I think you completely heard wrong," I finally spit out.

His smile got even bigger. "Puppy's are cute, dogs are not. You called me a puppy, you think I'm cute!"

I rolled my eyes at him. "Whatever," I replied, attempting not to sound defeated.

Lee looked at me with shock filled eyes. "You didn't deny it! You do think he is cute!"

I rolled my eyes at them and threaded my arm through Aaron's.

I looked up at him. "I never said he was cute. I never said he wasn't. It doesn't matter anyway. Aaron is the only one for me," I told them all with a wink.

Aaron pulled his arm away from mine and scooted away, a blush creeping up his neck.

"What are you trouble makers doing in here?" Miss Larissa asked as she walked in the small dinning area. She eyed Aaron and I thoughtfully before turning to eye Bennett and Lee.

"Nothing," I told her innocently and batted my eyelashes at her.

"Uh I-I'm going to go now. I think-I think the officers might need extra help . . ." Aaron trailed off, trying to come up with a good excuse. "Need extra help getting the offerings ready. Yeah. I'm going to go help them," Aaron finally stuttered out.
