Song is Bad Blood by Taylor Swift Ft. Kendrick Lamar (I might have spelled that wrong...)
"A-Aaron I-I'm not..," I cut off with a sigh, still not knowing what to say.
I started fidgeting and plucked at the grass below me.
"Please, say yes. I will take care of you. You know me," he pleaded. "You won't have to marry someone you don't know."
Slowly, I lifted my eyes to meet his.
Why didn't I just say yes? What's the worst thing that could happen? Sure I didn't love him like that, but he said he was okay with it. He wouldn't force me into anything and he would take good care of me, I knew it.
Slowly, I felt my head nod against my will.
Aaron's eyes brightened and he pulled me into a hug.
"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you," he exclaimed kissing my face after each word.
"Boundaries, Aaron," I hissed out, shoving him away. "No kissing. Ever."
He frowned slightly but nodded his head in agreement.
"No touching either. Especially not in public," I added. No one knew we were betrothed yet and our neighbors knew he stayed here last night. Them seeing him kissing me would not go over well.
He grabbed my hand. "Hand holding at the least. We can't have people starting rumors about problems in our marriage. We have to at least hold hands with the occasional peck on the lips."
I frowned at him. "I'm pretty sure we could do without the kissing. It's not proper anyway."
He rolled his eyes at me. "And yet when you are at the market place you see it happen at least once. Truly happy couples kiss. It's just natural," he argued
"Fine. Nothing more," I agreed, realizing he had a point.
He stood up, consequently pulling me up with him.
"Let's go tell Miss Larissa!" He excitedly announced as he pulled me towards the medical center.
"Wait," I pulled back on his hand, making him stop. "What are we going to tell her?"
He turned and looked at me, shrugging his shoulders, "Whatever you want to tell her. If you want to tell her it's fake, fine. If not, that's okay too. See? I can give you your space."
I looked down at the ground and nodded my head again. "Thanks," I told him with a warm smile. "Let's tell her it's real," I decided as I started walking towards the medical clinic again, him in tow. "Everyone might as well believe it is real," I added as we reached the door.
I reached my hand out to twist the door knob but Aaron's hand collided with mine and gently entwined our fingers, effectively stopping me from opening the door.
"I might break a boundary in there," he told me with sad eyes. "I thought you might want a warning."
I knew that he hated the fact that I had boundaries, but what else could I do? I don't want to hurt him anymore by allowing him to get even more attached to me. And yes, I am aware of how self centered that sounds, but it's true. The more this seems like a real relationship, the more it will hurt him when he gets reminded that it isn't.
"What do you mean?" I asked him, truly confused. All we had to do was tell Miss Larissa we were betrothed. Simple.
"I'll probably be all up in your business and Bennett," he said with a grimace, "let's just say I don't - and won't - get along well with him," he muttered quietly.
