Chapter 17 (Sleep Over)
Sakura's POV
"Hiya Tiffany, it's been a while!" My friend grinned.
It has been so long since I had been called by that name, I had almost forgotten it. After all the things I just went through, it seemed to me that my memories were very precious, and I didn't want to lose them again!
I even started writing them down on a piece of paper of all the things about my childhood and favorite foods, hobbies etc. Heck! If you read all of it, it would turn out to be a book about me!
"Hi Betsy, it's so nice to see you, please come on in."
I motioned her inside and nudged the door shut behind her.
"What would you like to do first?" I asked.
Her eyes gleamed with excitement.
"Let's go tell ourselves some ghost stories in your room, it is dark out after all."
It was true. The sun went down around 8:30, so it was a dull blue right now at 9'o'clock this evening.
"Sure. My mom is baking cookies right now, so we can go have some after."
We hurried on upstairs, giggling along the way.
***
It was a cold, chilly night, on that fateful evening, when the man slowly creaked his way up the stairs to the front of the old rickety house.
He went inside to the entrance of the house, then BANG!
-I clapped my hand for affection and Betsy jumped.-
The door was closed shut. His heart thudded wildly in his chest, and he had goosebumps rising on the back of his neck.
He gulped and unwillingly headed up the old stairs.
That's when he noticed the humming tune. A sound of a young woman singing, the tone vibrating around the stained, yellow walls.
And when he reached the top.... Ever so slightly did he feel the sudden chilled breath against his neck.
-Betsy squeezed the life out of the teddy bear she was holding. Waiting eagerly for more.-
He trembled and could smell the sticky stench of the woman's own saliva, dripping down his shoulder . . . He turned around . . . And THEN
"I BROUGHT THE COOKIES!!!!" My mother chimed.
I moaned silently for the ruined moment but Betsy let out a quick yelp of surprise as my mother approached us.
"Way to go mom!" I mumbled.
She ignored the comment and placed the bowl of cookies on my dresser table. She waved good bye, leaving the room.
"You're really good at telling ghost stories Tiffany, where do you get the ideas?"
"Oh, I have my ways." I said dismissively. -Of all the times you spend around the feudal era, you learn things pretty quickly-
I snatched a cookie and nibbled on it. I licked my lips in delight.
"Haven't had one of these in so long." I muttered.
"Sounds to me like you have been gone for a long time." She said, her tone in a bit of a sarcasm way, but I took it very seriously to the heart.
Even after thinking it through two days ago when I got here, I still hadn't been able to think of a good way to tell Betsy all the reasons why I hadn't even phoned her this summer! So I dismissed the topic in total.
