The first person I spot when I arrive at school, in the hallway, Is Aaron. He's leaning on my locker looking down at his shoes. I take small tentative steps as I walk to him. My heart is beating so loudly. I take slow, even breaths as he gazes up to me. His beautiful azure eyes shining brightly, his lips smiling and the corner of his eyes crinkling. So, cute.
"Hey." I say, fiddling with the straps of my bag. My feet shifting, and im biting the inside of my cheeks. He sighs and leans over, kissing me lighting on the lips. He lets go, leaving me breathless. My lips still burn from his, and I think I need an inhaler.
"Morning," He says, grinning. I absently bite my lip, still high from that one second kiss. I smile dreamily at him. "Coming to the pep rally tonight?" he asks me. I mentally slap myself. I almost forgot he played football, quarterback, to be exact. And he wants me to go? Hell yeah! But, Jenny will be there, she always is, because Matt - her boyfriend plays football, too. But, I don't care.
"Yes. I definitely will." I say to him. He puts his hands on my waist and starts to swirl strands of my hair around his finger.
"Good. I want you to see just how awesome I am on that field." He murmurs into my ear. I laugh and push his away playfully.
"You're so lame." I retort, rolling my eyes. I open my locker as he talks to me about football, and we joke and laugh until I see Adam walking in the hall way with the girl with the brown frizzy hair. I haven't thought about him in a while.
When he notices im with Aaron, his eyes widen. I grab Aarons hand and walk up to Adam. Adam seems surprised, and the girl next to him looks oblivious to us, her eyes roaming hungrily around the room. Odd.
"Lucy - Hey." Adam says, eyeing Aaron sceptically. Aaron looks at me with eyebrows raised and looks at the girl with the frizzy hair. Upfront, she has thick eyebrows and dark brown eyes, and beauty spots sprawled over her face.
"Hi, Adam. It's been a long time." I say nonchalantly. The girl finally looks at me, and cocks her head as she studies me. I begin to feel self-conscious.
"It's only been a few days." Adam replies. He clears his throat and gestures to the girl next to him. "This is Samira, a foreign exchange student from Iraq." I mouth forms an O.
Samira smiles broadly, flashing her crooked teeth. "Heh." She says in a thick accent. I think she was meant to say 'Hey'.
Adam gives a tight smile as I shake her hand. "Im teaching her a few high school slangs. She's learning a lot." Adam explains.
Samira turns to Aaron, and her face blushes a crimson red. She giggles, "Heh." She says to him, giggling. I narrow my eyes at her, and Aaron grins.
I clear my throat and turn to Adam, "Well, it was good talking to you. We better get going." I take Aarons hand. Adam eyes our intertwined hands and frowns. His brown eyes deepen.
"Wait." Adam says as I begin to walk away. Aaron is texting on his cell-phone clearly uninterested. Samira is fixing her shaggy hair while she smiles at Aaron. I turn to Adam expectantly.
"Yeah?" I say. Adam looks hurt, like I said something rude.
"Nothing." He replies, shaking his head and looking at the floor. Standing there for a couple of seconds I decide to walk away.
"What was that about?" Aaron asks me, turning away from his phone and looking straight at me.
"I don't know." I reply. And I don't. The bell rings, indicating its class time. I sigh. "Eat together at lunch?" I ask Aaron, who's looking at me straight in the eyes. He nods and kisses my forehead, and walks me to class.
