"I've been thinking about your problem," Marlene said, after allowing the obligatory period of ranting from her red-cheeked friend. Marlene bit her tongue, wondering if it was worth risking a broken arm for what she was about to suggest.

"Yeah?" Lily asked, words muffled by Marlene's pillow clamped tightly to her face. She was lying facedown on Marlene's bed, Marlene sat on the edge, poised to flee if necessary.

"Well, your problem. It's uh, you and Potter not cooperating, right, right."

"Spit it out, Marlene."

Crap, she used the full name.

Lily only ever called her Marly.

"Maybe we could, uh, talk about this tomorrow, don't want to disturb you and--"

"Oh my God, Marly, is your idea really that horrible?"

"Worse." Lily sat up, a small smile on her face.

"Okay, shoot."

"I mean uh ifyouwanttogetalongwithpotteryoutwoshouldfakearelationshippleasedon'thateme?"

"What?"

Marlene sighed and repeated it slower.

"If you want everyone to at least think you're getting along with Potter, I mean you tried it the other way, and, like, he wouldn't actually cooperate, obviously, soooo, maybe you should do something, so that everyone thinks that you'll get along, even if you don't actually, as long as you've fooled everyone, it'll work--"

"Marlene."

"Pretend that you two are dating...?"

A/N: Haha, Marlene is me when I'm avoiding a topic.

And on that note...

Do you think I should enter this story for the Wattys?

I don't even know how or if fanfiction can win, but I really would like to, so tell me what you think!
