A/N: TWENTY CHAPTERS EVERYONE WISH ME A HAPPY TWENTYTH CHAPTER WITH A COMMENT ^o^
Lily was furious.
Or maybe that was an understatement.
The entire hall watched in stunned silence as the James Potter strolled down the aisle, clutching Lily's hand. She dug her fingernails into his palm. They sat down, Lily smiling tensely, James triumphantly. And why, Lily thought, wouldn't he?
He had just kissed Lily Evans.
Up at the head table, Dunbledore sighed, drawing the silent hall's attention, and passed some gold coins to McGonagall. The hall exploded into noise.
Sirius clapped James on the back, wearing a wide grin. Lily glanced around for Marlene, and frowned when she couldn't find her. She sighed, resigning herself to a rageful breakfast.
"Nice job," Lovie said from beside her, offering her a smile.
"Thanks," Lily muttered. "I loved that."
"If you need me to get him to back off," the blonde said seriously, "I will."
Lily laughed. "What will you do?" she asked. "No offence, Love, but you're not exactly intimidating."
Lovie tapped her foot. "Stab him with a high heel?"
They both laughed at this. Lily fell into easy conversation with the blonde girl, feeling a pang of guilt at how she'd been neglecting her friend.
If Potter makes me forget about my friends, I really might stab him with a high heel.
"Are you serious?" Lily exclaimed, in startled reaction to a story Lovie had been telling.
"No, but he is!" Lovie nodded in Sirius's direction, who winked at her in return. Lily punched Lovie's shoulder. The girl groaned and rubbed her shoulder. "You hit so hard for a twig."
"Hey, that's my line!" Potter leaned over, wearing that stupid grin of his. Suddenly, Lily remembered her bad mood.
"Sod off," she snarled, swinging her bag over her shoulder and hurrying away. James stared after her.
"Hey, Potter." He looked up at Lovie, who looked sympathetic.
"What did I do?" the boy asked helplessly. Lovie's face hardened.
"What do you think?" She stood and rushed after Lily. Sirius punched his shoulder.
"Nice job, Mate," he teased. A girl appeared from the crowd, sitting in the seat Lily had just vacated. "Hey, Mar!"
Marlene looked up, brushing her dark hair behind her ears. "Black," she greeted him. Sirius pouted.
"No 'hello'? No 'good morning'?"
"I wasted those all on Quinn," she informed him. "Now you just get a 'Black'. Hello, Potter," she added, noticing him.
"Wait, he gets a hello? And who is this Quinn guy? Can I fight him?"
Marlene laughed, buttering a piece of toast hastily. "He's my boyfriend, Black, which you'd know if you were a better best friend." Sirius shrugged carelessly at this.
"Ah, what does it matter?" he asked, stealing the toast from her.
"Hey! And where's Lily?" Marlene asked, yanking it back. The two boys exchanged guilty glances.
"Um..." they both said in unison.A/N:
