Chapter One

I awoke with a gasp. My body jumped upright a thin layer of sweat covering me. My breathing was fast and uneven. Tears threatened to spill out of my eyes.  It's been a few weeks since Jade was cast out of heaven. I ran a hand through my tangled hair trying to calm down.

I sighed and swung my legs to the side of the bed. I placed my head and my hands and groaned. My head was pounding. I shook my head then stood up. With a heavy sigh I padded softly to my bathroom for a shower.

After a long warm shower I did my routine which was light makeup and curling my hair. After all that I changed into my 'uniform'. My uniform was a floor length lacy white dress that covered half of my back and had long lacy sleeves.

I then slipped on my flats and walked out the door to get my assignment for the day. I walked up to Adam and stand in front of  him.

"What's today's assignment?" I asked simply.

He looked up from his work and spoke,

"For you? Nothing."

He spoke simply. He stood up from his desk and started to walk.

I trailed after him.

"E-excuse me?"

He gave a sigh and turned to face me.

"You're on leave. Something's come up and you're not needed at the moment. "

"Was it something I did?" I asked

He shook his head and sighed.

"Things are happening and you are not needed." He spoke to me like a was a child.

I sucked my teeth and nodded my head trying my best not to yell at him.

"Ok"

I walked back to my room and sat on my bed and searched for Jade's thoughts. Honestly it wasn't that hard. She always seemed to be thinking about a certain raven haired boy. His name was Calum.

"Thinking about a certain boy now are we?" I teased.

She gave a shriek of surprise. "Don't do that!"

"Ok. Sorry. Sorry. I couldn't help it. " I laughed.

I could feel her glare burning in my mind. "But I am sorry."

She laughed. "Whatever. What're you up to?"

"I'm sitting in my room."

"That's the life Hun." She laughed.

"So uh.. I gotta tell you a secret."

She perked up at this.

"Oh. Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me."

"You're like a little kid. Oh my gosh." I laughed at her.

"Tell me!" She demanded while laughing.

"Well. Um. There's a guy..." I trailed off.

"Oh dear."

I smiled to my self. "He's tall and blond and has blue eyes."

"Okay."

"And he's a sweetheart and incredibly good looking..." I trailed off. My smile fading as I remember something.

"And?" She pressed.

"And uh, well..."

"Well?"

I glanced around. "There's a problem.

"The problem is?"

"I'm up here and he's down there..."

"A fallen angel?" She asked surprised.

I nodded. "Yeah. He not one of us." I spoke sadly.

"He once was. What about this boy?" She asked.

"Well I think I like him."

"That's prohibited!" She shrieked. "You could get in huge trouble for that!"

"I-I know. You can not breath a word of this to anyone."  I told her sternly. "If Adam here about his he'll have my wings."

"Of course not. You can trust me."

"Thank you." I sighed in relief.

"How'd it happen?" She asked me.

"Well it was a few weeks ago. I was on assignment and I saw him." I smiled I my self.

"What's his name? Maybe I know him."

"His name is Luke."

"Would I be able to see him? Is he mortal now?" She asked intrigued.

"You should be. After they took his wings and he fell he became visible to the human eye." I explained.

"Where would I find him? I he going to school? How does this whole 'fallen angel' thing work? Is this like a second try at humanity for him or is he cursed to stay the same age as a mortal forever? What goes on?" She asked all at once.

"I don't know where you'd find him. Last I saw him he was in Washington. With other fallen angels." I told her.

"Now for the Fallen deal. When we break tweaked we get kicked out. They torture us and then rip our wings out and cast is down to earth."

"Oh snap." She said quietly.

"Luke is immortal. He'll stay the same age forever." I told her.

"So this Luke boy is going to be hiding forever?"

"Basically yeah. Once you fall all contact with Heaven is broken."

"Is there a chance they could be redeemed?"

"Unless someone worthy sacrifices their life for him then no. Hardly anyone is that worthy."

She was silent for a moment. She was thinking everything over. "Wow."

"Tell me about it."

"Do you think I could track him down? So you could see him again?"

A smile graced my lips at the question. "I think it's possible you have a knack for finding things."

She gave a laugh. "Ya know. It's weird being mortal again. I'm limited  to memories of this life. I don't remember anything before it." She paused.

"I bet I could find him. If I start in Washington I'll no doubt find a lead and get in he right trail."

My smile faded as mind flashed back to that frightful day when she was kicked out.

"Ok. You know not a day goes by where I don't feel guilty about your falling."

She scoffed. "Like I said, I don't even remember what happened. It probably wasn't as big a deal and you think it is." She explained.

I licked my lips and nodded. "Ok. Do you really think you could find him?"

She laughed while heartedly. "I have eternity. Of course I can."

I laughed at her answer. "Thank you."

"Of course. Now what do you remember?"

"Not a whole lot. I remember he had the most stunning blue eyes. I last saw him in a little town in Washington. It seemed to rain a lot" I laughed.

"Shouldn't be hard to find. Might as well find something to do with my time." She laughed.

"What if the Arches find out?" I asked nervously.

"Don't let them! They can't do anything to me for looking for a fellow fallen."

"I hope not." I mumble.
