Chapter Three

"Have you found anything?" I asked after a couple days.

"On Luke?"

"Mm.. Both."

"As you know I'm not I'm Washington. I probably won't find anything on him for a few more days till I get to Washington. As for Calum were staying in the same hotel."

"Ooh nice."

"His eyes are prettier than I imagined."

"So you met him?" I asked excitedly.

"They're Chocolate Brown."

"Well?" I demanded. "How'd you meet?"

"I might've spilled my coffee on him this morning. I made sure to be awkward and cute. He offered to make me a new one and he told me his name and why he was in New York. I did the same. I told him I was following a lead for a boy who went missing. He also knows I'm not a cop." She explained.

I listened with patience knowing I'd need the whole story sooner or later.

"So why is he there?" I asked

"He needed to get away from family. He didn't say much about it or where he came from. He's obviously not American." She explained.

"I knew he wasn't American."

"How close are you to being here? I'm more anxious to see you now than ever!" She wined. I smiled and look out the plane window.

"My plane just landed."

"Finally!" She exclaimed. "As soon as you're done with Calum, come to my room."

"Yes dear." I laughed.

I walked off the plane wearing ripped skinny jeans and a maroon t-shirt with plain black Chuck Taylor's. My black Aviators covering my eyes. I walked out of the airport and  down the street.

I didn't know where I was going but I felt like I was on the right track. After about a half an hour of walking I turned down an ally and heard someone talking.

"I know I've made mistakes. But I need one." He was talking about a Guardian. I smirked and took off my sunglasses.

"Well you're in luck. Because here I am."

He turned around his eyes widening.

"Rachel?" He breathed. "But how?" He smiled.

I looked at him confused. "How do you know my name?"

His smile faltered a bit. 

"Don't you remember me?"

"Remember you?" I laughed trying to lighten the situation. "Why-why would I need to remember you?"

His smile fell mad his shoulders dropped. He was crushed. He looked at the ground then back up at the sky mumbled something.

I took a step forward. "Calum... Why did you call me?"

His head snapped towards me. His eyes were dull and held pain behind them. He ran his tong over his lips and shook his head.

"Forget it." He murmured, walking away quickly his shoulder colliding with mine in the process.

I stood there shocked and confused. I shook my head and walked out of the ally heading towards Jade's hotel. 

I knocked on the door excited to see her face. I heard a squeal making me laugh. The door was flung open with a scream of excitement an all I saw was a blur of brown hair before I was tackled into a bear hug.

"I can't believe you're hear!" She yelled.

I laughed and hugged her back just as tightly. "Me neither!"

She pulled back from the hug and I looked at her. She had cut her hair to her shoulder blades.

"Look at you!" I exclaimed. "You're such a babe!"

She reached put to play with the ends of her hair. "You like?"

"I love! It's cute!"

She laughed. "Alright tell me everything. How was it?" She took my hand leading me inside

"It was interesting."

She furrowed her eyebrows and brought me to the end of the bed making me sit. "What happened?"

"Well. It was weird. He was practically praying. He was wading. He said he really needed one. I told him he was in luck and he turned around and said my name. He asked if I remembered him. When I asked why I would need to remember he just looked crushed. I asked why he called me and just just told me to forget it and left."

"What?"

"Yeah. He mumbled something but I couldn't tell what it was."

"I'm so confused right now."

I laughed. "Tell me about it. But I gotta keep an eye on him. Maybe he'll open up."

She nodded. "Alright. Well I think I'm gonna bolt. I'm pretty sure I know where I need to start in Washington."

"Alright be safe."

"Why do you always worry? It's not like I can get kicked out of Heaven twice now can I?"

"No. But still. The Arches are already on my tail from last time."

She put her hands on my shoulders.

"Don't give them reason to suspect you. I've got it under control. Deal with Calum. I'll give you updates on Luke somehow."

I nodded.

"I'll keep you updated on Calum."

"Deal." She smiled. "I'll leave for Washington in the morning. Just so I can let Calum know."

I looked out the window and saw that the moon was rising.

"Now I don't know about you but my body needs rest. You're welcome to chill here if you'd like."

I nodded. "Alright. I need to take care of a few things then I'll be back ok?"

She nodded "Alright. I'll see you when I see you."

There it is! As I promised Cal made an appearance. Where does Calum know her from? Why doesn't Rachel remember? Mm question questions questions!
