The year is 1980. Fleetwood Mac has just finished a very difficult and long tour for the Tusk album. There were several legs and over 100 dates. The band went not only all across the country but to Great Britain, Japan and Australia. Everyone in the band is exhausted, especially Lindsey Buckingham.

During the grueling tour vast amounts of alcohol, cocaine and pot were consumed. Most of the time Lindsey and Stevie were at each others throats. In less frequency they were in each others beds. Even with Carol Ann along for much of the tour.

The sex Stevie and Lindsey had was always quick, passionate, needy, and desperate. Well desperate on Lindsey's part. He has never gotten over Stevie's leaving him. He knows his outbursts when he yells and screams at her are really driven from hurt and despair.

Lindsey has Carol Ann. He jumped into a relationship with her right after Stevie ended things with him during the recording of Rumours. She's pretty, short and petite like Stevie but that's were the similarities end. It drives Lindsey crazy how clingy she is, always wanting to be right were he is! He never gets any alone time with Stevie or even just alone time for himself to recharge his mental batteries.

Lindsey is in his home studio working on a new song. He has some of the lyrics put to music

Will I love you, I will always
Will you stand by me always
Cause love is like a grain of sand
Slowly slipping through your hand

Lindsey is calling this song Oh Diane.
There is one person he thinks of while he writes...Stevie Nicks.

Carol Ann interrupts his reverie by barging into the studio. She says
"Lindsey baby you want me to get you something to eat?"

"How about I sex you up baby!"

Carol Ann then tries to sit on Lindsey's lap. He's had enough.

"Will you leave me alone!"

"I'm trying to work, go out and buy something."

With that Carol Ann leaves his studio in a huff. Lindsey wonders what he's doing with her but be really doesn't want to be alone. Even if he can't stand her.

Lindsey has started working on a solo album with Richard. It's going to be called Law and Order. He's laid down a couple tracks already. Warner Bros is the label backing him. He's glad to be working on his own but one thing is eating at him.

Stevie is also working on a solo album with her boyfriend Jimmy Iovine. He can't stand someone else producing her music! Why is she with him, all she needs is me! Lindsey thinks. He's also afraid deep down that the music will be good, better than his.

Lindsey smokes another joint and tries to relax. He can feel his sanity slipping a little at a time like cracks in a foundation. Once splintered the whole thing will come crashing down.

Lindsey spends the day drinking whisky and smoking joints. He's just can't seem to stop obsessing about Stevie. He's drunk and high enough he decides to call her. He has heard she's living at Jimmy's house but he doesn't have that number. He decides to try her home phone just in case she is there. He dials.

Stevie answers out of breathe

"Hello"

Lindsey responds
"Hey Angel this is Lindsey, I needed to hear your voice."

Stevie says
"Don't call me that, you can't do that anymore!"

Lindsey responds
"Come on Steph don't be like that!"

Stevie replies
"Don't call me that either!"
"What do you really want?"

Lindsey responds
"I just need to see you, its been weeks!"
"Can I come over?"

Stevie tells him
"You know you cant!"
"I'm with Jimmy and we are busy making music!"
"Go play house with Carol Ann and leave me alone!"

Lindsey replies in his drunken despair
"You really are a bitch Stevie!"
"You need me for your music and you need me in bed, admit it!"

Stevie thunders
"I don't need you for anything besides Fleetwood Mac, get that in your thick skull!"
"Now quit calling me, I don't want to hear from you!"

Stevie hangs up the phone. Lindsey throws the studio phone in frustration. Why can't she admit that she needs him? It dawns on him, maybe she doesn't.

Lindsey is desperate for Stevie. He's afraid that she maybe lost to him forever.

Lindsey takes the razor blade he has hidden under the sound board. He pulls his jeans down and slices the razor blade across his thigh. As the blood oozes from the cut Lindsey enjoys the searing pain. He looks at his leg and sees several other razor marks in different degrees of healing.

Lindsey thinks to himself. I may really be going insane.
