I Still Miss Someone

  Stevie composes herself and goes to Karen's office. She walks in and shuts the door. Karen looks up from her laptop and is instantly alarmed. She sees by Stevie's expression that something has happened.

  Stevie says to Karen

  "I need you to please take Wendy to school and pick her up today."

  "Jeff Buckingham just called and said Lindsey has woken from his coma."

  Karen gasps is shock, she replies

  "Stevie are you ok?"

  "I assume your going to see him, do you need me to come with you?"

  Stevie responds

  "I can't believe he's awake, the doctors say he was brain damaged and would most likely not recover!"

  "What do I tell him?"

  "You have been asleep almost 15 years and you have a 14 year old daughter?"

  "Oh by the way I'm married and my husband adopted your child!"

  Stevie begins to sob. Karen wraps her arm around her and says

  "You had no reason to think Lindsey would ever recover, he will understand."

  Stevie replies

"Will he?"

  "I'm not so sure."

  Stevie sits with Karen for a couple minutes until they hear a knock on the door. Stevie gets up and opens it. Wendy is standing there with her book bag. She says

  "Mom are you ready?"

  "I'm going to be late for school!"

  Karen speaks up and says

  "Wendy go down to my car, I'm taking you today."

  Wendy looks at her mom and sees she has been crying. She says

  "Mom are you okay?" 
 
  "What's happened?"

  Stevie responds to Wendy

  "I'm okay, I'll tell you about it this evening, Karen will be picking you up today too."

  Wendy asks

  "Mom is there something wrong with dad?"

  Stevie almost laughs at the question. No kiddo, your dad just woke up from a coma that has lasted your entire life! She instead says

  "Your dad is fine now go down and wait for Karen."

  Wendy gives up knowing that her mom is stubborn and won't tell her anything until she wants to! She heads down to wait for Karen.

  Stevie tells Karen goodbye and goes to get ready to see Lindsey.

  Lindsey has had several visitors the last 24 hours since he has awaken. His brother Jeff has brought his mom down to see him. Teams of doctors and nurses have been in and out.

  He has learned about many things that have happened. His brother Greg dying was by far the worst. The main thing on his mind has been Stevie. Jeff has assured him that she will be coming to see him.

  Stevie called for a car and his currently riding to Madonna to see Lindsey. She let's herself briefly escape to the past.

  1983

  Dave Stewart joined Fleetwood Mac and filled in for Lindsey on the Mirage album. Using Lindsey's demos and notes he'd left in his studio the record came together fairly smoothly.
