Stevie gets on the phone and makes a few calls. She knows Mick, John and Christine are in town to help Mick promote his new book. She enlists them to help her with her plan.Jeff and Wendy are ready too. Stevie tells them
"You guys get Lindsey and bring him to me at the place I told you."
"Christine, Mick and John will be there with me to help me with my part!"
"Oh Jeff do you think he will be okay with all this?"
Jeff responds
"I know he will, this is exactly what he needs!"
Wendy says
"Okay Uncle Jeff let's go, good luck mom we will see you in a little while!"
Wendy gives her mom a hug and a kiss and leaves with her uncle. Stevie goes and calls for a car. It's showtime.
Lindsey has drank a couple glasses of the Jack Daniels and is catching a buzz. Instead of numbing the pain it has intensified it. He holds the razor blade to his throat and wonders how much it will hurt when he slashes it through his throat.
He pauses and thinks back to when Steve left him during the Rumours album recording.
1976
Lindsey and Stevie have just had another screaming match in the recording studio . Lindsey knows all of their fights are stupid but his growing ego just can't let himself cede any point to Stevie.
Stevie has stormed out of the studio and walked outside. The band is due to pack up and leave Sausalito and return to Sound City in Los Angeles to finish up the album. Lindsey followed her outside to were Stevie is smoking a cigarette trying to calm herself.
Lindsey says to Stevie
"We need to pack up the car so we can leave for LA tomorrow. "
Stevie responds
"I'm done Linds, I just can't be with you anymore."
"Go ahead and take the car, I'll ride home with Chris."
"When I get there I'll pack my things and leave."
With that Stevie walks back inside to go find Christine. Lindsey sits hard on the cement in shock. He can't believe she's really leaving!
Stevie is the center of his life, very quickly Lindsey feels very lost.
Present Day
Lindsey knows he never got over what happened that day. She never took him back. They had many trysts over the years but she never dated him.
He also knows it's completely his fault. He was immature, egotistical and downright jealous. He did want to keep Stevie to himself because he was so afraid of losing her. And he did lose her anyway.
To top it all off he tried to kill himself and missed out on not only knowing he had a daughter but getting to be involved in her life.
That's all Lindsey ever really wanted. Deep down he wanted to marry Stevie and raise a family. Fame and fortune got in the way. Now he has nothing. Neither Stevie or the fame and fortune. Maybe he really should just end it all.
As Lindsey raises the razor blade he hears a knock at the door.
Who could it be? Only Jeff and Irving know he's here. Lindsey quickly puts all of his contraband away and answers the door. Standing on the other side is his beautiful daughter Wendy.
