Chapter Thirty Seven-I Love You Too

Louis licked his lips as he nervously leaned against the kitchen bench. Jocelyn looked smug yet annoyed the way she stared down Louis with her dark eyes.

"An explanation would be good around about now Louis." Jocelyn said still eyeing Louis with intimidation.

"There's nothing to explain..." Louis trailed off.

"There is."

"If you asking me why I abandoned my child I don't have an answer for you Mrs Walker."

Jocelyn scoffed. "Highly doubted. I've known you your whole life Louis, I know you have an answer."

Louis nervously chewed on his lip the nervousness bluntly in his eyes. He knew Jocelyn was right, he knew exactly why he did what he did. But idea of telling Jocelyn made his blood run cold.

"Fine then Louis," Jocelyn said finally. "Maybe you can tell me what on earth were you thinking getting drunk with an eight year old around?"

"I was thinking my fiancé left me." Louis replied tartly. "I didn't drink while she was around, I-"

"I've had alcohol before Louis, I know for a fact you probably weren't sober all day." Jocelyn hissed rising from her seat. "You'd think you'd know by now how to raise a child. But you don't, you're just a twenty six year old in a band who cares more about himself then his own daughter."

Louis matched her glare. "Are you implying I don't care about my daughter Mrs Walker?"

"That's exactly what I'm implying." Jocelyn hissed coldly.

"Shame..." Louis muttered with a shrug. "You can think whatever you want it doesn't make a difference. And you're right I don't know what I'm doing. But really what harm can come from winging it?"

"I can promise you this Louis. When she's thirteen and expects everything handed out to her on a piece of solid gold you won't be 'winging' it anymore. You obviously aren't fit for parenthood Louis! You don't get wasted for two whole weeks when you're taking care of an eight year old girl! It's irresponsible! Neglectful-"

"Honestly Mrs Walker it doesn't matter." Louis cut in.

"It does." She repulsed. "And if you think in going to leave her with you you're crazy. You don't do that to a child Louis William."

"Are you saying you want to take her away from me?" When Jocelyn nodded, he almost laughed. "Yeah Mrs Walker that's not happening. You have no right to even be near my daughter, and if you think I'll even let you touch her, you're crazy."

"I care about my family Louis." Jocelyn's voice was dark. "I raised three girls and I can tell you now you aren't fit for being a parent."

"Damn shame. Don't touch my daughter at all."

Louis watched as Jocelyn stalked out of the room the sound of her opening and closing the front door echoing through into the kitchen. Louis ran his fingers through his hair biting down on to his lip.

'Harry was right'

"...What's your problem with Louis?" Zayn snapped looking at Darian with confusion.

"He abandoned his child! How aren't you annoyed at him?" Darian shot back as she banged the tea cup onto the table.

"So?" Zayn asked. "He made a mistake-"

"He left a child. A freaking child. He abandoned Tellie, how is that alright with you?"

"He was eighteen or whatever."

"So?"

"So? I would've done the exact same thing!"

Darian's mouth opened a little bit as she stared at Zayn. Somehow words couldn't come from her mouth, she felt taken aback by Zayn but also shocked

"Z-Za..." She trailed off.

"It's what a lot of people would do..."

Eleanor didn't know what made her walk up to Louis' door that night, but as she did the knot in her stomach tightened. What was she going to say? She knew exactly what she wanted to, but the thought of being that venerable to the man who cheated in her made her disgusted. As she knocked on the door the disgust seemed to leave.

'It's still Louis.'

It surprised Eleanor how the words took away all the fear she had of saying the words. As the door opened she stared into Louis' blue eyes not evening carding about the surprised look on his face she said the words she held in for far to long.

"I love you too."
