"Who the hell is this Patrick?!"
Jeremy's voice reverberated through his house. He was walking back and forth in desperation when Susan came into his room. She stood at the door for a while and looked at her friend. He was definitely going crazy. As he turned around in his ritual to walk back and forth, Susan caught a glimpse of the board behind him.
It read in big and bold letters: "NEVER LOSE HOPE. YOU'LL GET THE ANSWER YOU SEEK"
Her face was now a new shade of anger. She walked up to him, tapped on his shoulders. Jeremy turned around all of a sudden.
"Sue! Don't interrupt me. I'm trying to think here."
"By walking back and forth and making statements?!"
Jeremy sighed.
"I'm desperate here! The girl I have a crush on is in love with SOMEBODY ELSE!"
He barged out of his room, and Sue was remembering the episode at Mer's house.
I can't tell him. I promised them, she thought. Jeremy came back into his room after sometime, with the draft of his book in his hand.
"What're you doing?"
"Calling Mer." He replied.
"But I thought you guys would take a break of two days and then start editing again. Wasn't that the plan?"
"I'm going crazy here. I'm gonna call her and try and see if I can get there now."
"Jerry, really. Stop this. She'll tell ya who Patrick is when she feels she can tell you. Why are you rushing things?"
He looked at Sue with a serious expression.
"Because" he replied, looking away. "I don't want him to come back and take her away from me."
Sue remained silent as Jeremy picked up the phone to call Mer. He was probably on the line for five minutes, when a smile came on his face.
"Okay. I'll be there in 10." He said.
"She agreed?" asked Sue.
"Yeah. Going there now. You wanna come?"
"Nope. I have work. I'll see you tomorrow. Bye."
"Bye." He said, as Sue left his house and went for her own work.
Jeremy gathered a few things and got into his car a few minutes later. Mer's house was reached in 10 minutes, exactly as Jeremy had promised. A new place to edit, the two now always went to the edge of the forest where Jeremy had asked Meredith to consider him as her north star.
His mind was going crazy to ask Mer who Patrick was, but he tried hard to control himself. After an hour into editing, Meredith got up and looked around.
"Today doesn't seem to be so windy." She said.
"Yeah. The last time we came the wind nearly blew us away." He replied.
Meredith smiled.
"So, why were you in such a hurry to start editing again? I thought you were so fed up that you wanted a break, Jerry."
"I got bored." He replied, smiling back.
"Bored, eh? Not a good excuse Jerry. So tell me, what's on your mind?"
"Nothing much." he replied, standing up.
"There's definitely something on your mind."
Jeremy couldn't hold it in any longer.
