<Ireland’s POV>
Just as there was a knock on the door Ella started to cry. I walked quickly to the door, picking her up from her room on my way.
“Nawnie…” She whined.
“What baby?” I asked as I opened the door.
“Play Nawnie play.” She said as she placed her hand on my shocked face.
“Ireland..” I looked at the one person that I would never have imagined to be back here.
“What are you doing here?” I asked after the shock wore off slightly.
“I was hoping that maybe we could talk..” He trailed off as Josh came up behind me at the door.
“Ireland what is going..” Josh stopped talking as he seen Ryan at the door. “What the fuck are you doing her?” I have never seen Josh more angry.
“Josh?” Ryan looked at me.
I wanted to tell him that Josh was still just my friend, but I stopped myself. I was sure that it would make Josh more angry. I still loved Ryan as much as the day he left me.
“Ryan.”
“Josh please. He just wants to talk.” I turned slightly, to look at him. “Are you sure?”
“Yeah, I think I will be fine.” I put on a fake smile that I knew that he could see right through, but truth be told I wanted to talk to Ryan too. This may not be the way that I had planned for this to go but it was better than nothing.
“Okay, well call me if you need anything. I have to work in an hour.” He quickly kissed Ella.
“bye bye unle Joh” Ella giggled.
“Bye baby” He smiled at her.
I stared at him as he got on the elevator, leaving me there alone with Ryan and Ella. I was nervous. I really didn’t know what to say, so I moved to open the door wider for him to come in. He looked around and I could tell by his face that he was shocked that it hadn’t really changed that much since he left. When I finally brought myself around to the possibility of changing the furniture or something I was too emotionally drained to have to lose more of him.
“Do you want something to drink?” I asked, breaking him from his train of thought.
“Sure that would be nice.” He said as he followed me to the kitchen.
“Do you want mountain dew, apple juice, milk, or tea?” I asked opening the refrigerator.
“Mountain dew would be good.” He smiled. I quickly handed him the pop and our hands lightly brushed and I pulled away quickly.
“I need to go change her, just make yourself comfortable.” I said as I readjusted Ella on my hip.
She was just looking at him, I could tell that she was just as nervous about him being here without Josh as I was. That is something that she took after me. She doesn’t like to really be alone with someone until she knows them pretty well.
“Okay.”
I walked off to her room quickly. I changed her diaper and picked her out a cute onesy and a tutu skirt that she loves. I pulled her hair up in a ponytail and put a cute bow in the back.
“Petty Nawnie” She smiled as she looked herself over in the mirror that sat in the corner of her room.
“You are pretty baby.” I smiled
“She is beautiful.” I heard him say. I turned around and he was standing in the doorway. How long had he been standing there? I never even noticed him.
