"Sebastian huh?" Jonathan said. "That's a cool name. What happened to him?"

"He moved away to some other part of France. I think Paris but I've never seen him." You heard your disappointment in your voice.

"It's a big city Y/N. Maybe we'll look him up when we get back huh?" He turned you around so you were hugging him.

"Okay." You mumbled into his chest.

"Let's go back to bed. It's way too early."

"Let me put this picture back then I'll be there." You said. He turned and walked back over to the bed. He didn't bother to put a shirt on before and you could see the runes covering up and down his arms and his back.

You put the picture back on the wall and hopped back into your bed, and cuddled up close to Jonathan.

"What do you think is going to be in the journal?" You asked Jonathan.

"I have no idea." You felt it when he talked because you were laying on his chest.

"You know what I just thought about Jonathan?"

"What?"

You turned up to look at him and he looked down at you. "All the spaghetti you made last night went to waste."

"I do belive that it was worth it." He smirked and kissed you. You rolled over do that you were on top of him and you kept kissing him.

You jumped away when you remembered something.

"I didn't think I was that bad of a kisser." Jonathan mumbled to himself. You covered his mouth with your hand and laughed.

"No your terrible that's why I keep doing it." You joked. "But I just thought about the journal. We have to go get it."

You didn't even wait for him to respond you just hopped off of the bed and grabbed your bag.

Once you slipped some shorts on you turned back to the bed to find Jonathan just laying there.

You jumped on top of him and grabbed you pillow to hit him. "Are you gonna get up?"

"Depends. Are you gonna feed me?" He put his hands on your thighs and you slowly put down the pillow.

"Well what do you want to eat?"

"Food." He chuckled.

"What kind of food?" You playfully glared down at him.

"The kind you eat." At this you whacked him in the head with the pillow. "Okay okay. Whatcha got?"

"I vote, your leftover spaghetti."

"Hmmm sounds good." You hopped off of him so that he could get up. Once he did you couldn't help but stare. His abs were amazing and all the runes around his body made him look hot. "Like what you see Y/N?" He smirked.

"Obviously." You scoffed and ran out of the room.

Downstairs the pots were already washed and put away and the spaghetti was in the fridge. You took some out and put it in two bowls to heat it up. It was all done by the time Jonathan came down the stairs.

"I love me a woman that can cook." He grabbed his spaghetti and started eating.

"You know that you made this right?" You mumbled with your mouth half full.

"But you heated it up. And that's what counts." He continued shoving his face.

After you two finished eating you grabbed your shovels out of the old she'd that was on the side of your house ans started walking.

"The tree is a little ways back in the woods but I think you'll be ok with the walk." You laughed at Jonathan and you both started walking.

"You know I would have loved to grow up here. It seems peaceful." Jonathan stated.

"Yeah I guess my childhood was pretty cool. Minus the whole parents dying when I was 13." You shrugged.

"If you don't mind my asking how did they die?"

You took a deep breath. "One night when I was out on a mission, I guess some demons came. My parents were outside on the patio when I found them, the demons were long gone but my parents... their bodies were torn up in a way I couldn't imagine. You'd think that they would fight back but, they didn't have any weapons on them. They didn't even have their steles."

"That must have been hard going through that at such a young age. I'm sorry." He took your hand and laced his fingers through yours.

You smiled at him. "It's not your fault, but yeah it was hard. Though I wasn't that young. All shadowhunters grow up quicker than normal mundanes."

"Your no normal shadowhunter my little fireball." He smirked.

For fun you made a tiny fire ball on the tip of your index finger and shot it at him.

"New shirt Y/N. You burnt up the last one." He patted the fire off of his shirt.

You laughed and continued walking down the trail. It was a little grown up because you hadn't mowed it since the summer time but it wasn't unbearable.

You saw the beautiful giant tree in a clearing before you. The swing was the same and the only thing different was the leaves on the tree. They were small buds from the spring.

You let go of Jonathan's hand and dropped the shovel you were carrying.

"Y/N?" Jonathan asked. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Though the tears in your eyes said otherwise. "I just haven't been to this tree since my mom died."

You sat on the swing and let the sobs come out. Your mother was your best friend after Sebastian moved away. And she was the woman that you looked up to. Sure she had some secrets but don't we all? She was still a great mother and it pained you to be here in her favorite place. Without her.

Eventually you got up. "Um.. it's under the swing, could you hold it out of my way while I dig?" You handed the ropes of the swing to Jonathan and he held it out of your way.

You dug your shovels into the dirt. Scoop, after scoop, after scoop. Until you hit something. You got down on your knees and pulled the box out of the earth.

It wasn't very sturdy and the lock was broken so it was easy to get into.

The first thing you saw was a picture. The last picture you and your mother ever took together. Your faces were silly and you had goofy smiles carved on your faces.

Under that was the book.

"This is it." You looked up at Jonathan, astonished. "The journal."
