This chapter is in Jonathan's POV the whole time.
I left Y/N's apartment after Sebastian got there. My ... father had sent a message to me that told me to meet him at his new headquarters.
So I did. The new place wasn't far from Y/N's house so it took me only a few mere minutes to get there. Unsurprisingly the entrance was in a dark alleyway and father had two guards on the outside of the door.
They looked prepared to stop anyone but with one cold stare from me they backed off and opened the door. Around here I'm very important. I'm the only one who could actually talk back to my father and not die. Yes I did get the occasional beating but that's only because he can't stand the thought of anyone knowing more than he does.
I went through the door and down one hallway to the right. My father's office is the only door down this hallway so it wasn't hard to find. When I opened the door he was looking through some papers so I took a seat in the plush chair across from his desk and waited for him to finish.
Without even looking up from his work he began to speak. "Hello Jonathan. How have you been?"
I almost rolled my eyes but thought about the last time that happened. I still have the scar on my back to remember it by. "Good father but let's skip the pleasantries. Why am I here?"
"Ah Jonathan, never one for small talk were you?" He chuckled "I have more things for you to do. Regarding our upcoming ... trip, to Alicante."
"Remind me father," I already felt the smirk rising up onto my face, "What will we be doing on this 'trip' to Alicante? Perhaps meeting my baby sister?"
"Jonathan you know exactly what this trip is about. Do not start with me." He was starting to get irritated and I knew it. I have to push. It's the demon blood pulsing through me that makes me need to do this. "I haven't asked much of you for the past few weeks, I've let you wander and do whatever it is that you have been doing Jonathan. Do you really think that it's right to get on my nerves right now?"
"It doesn't matter what I think. Does it father?" I already knew the answer so I just continued without waiting for him to even react, let alone answer. "I've spoke to Ramad about getting the portal made for us for transport. I've also done my research and there is a cave a few miles away from the city of Alicante. No one will find it and we can have our portal take us there. What else is there that needs to be done? No one will see us until the evening that we plan on releasing our creatures in the city. What more needs to be done father?"
"You see Jonathan, my son, every shadowhunter in Idris knows who I am or at least knows of my story. And after my last event with your brother and sister, most shadowhunters know that I am alive." He stated facts that I already knew.
"Yes father I know. You had them on the boat in New York. The inquisitor died, you discovered more of my 'angleic' baby sisters powers. What does that have to do with this?"
He paced back and fourth behind his desk as he looked at me with a sort of mischief dancing in his eyes. Before he said anything else he pulled a folder out of his desk and slid it across to me.it stayed on the desk. I didn't dare open it yet.
"You see my son, I need a spy. Someone who can get close to the Lightwoods, someone who can get close to Jace and to my Clarissa. But I don't have anyone to do that. It is very hard for my children to trust anyone. But they haven't met you Jonathan." My head perked up at this and my black eyes stared into his soulless eyes, they craved power and that's all my father has ever wanted. Power.
"What are you saying?" The question tasted foreign on my tongue. Especially when Im talking to me father because I have always understood his plans becuase he has always told me.
"What I am saying is that I need you to be my spy Jonathan. You are going to go to Alicante and get close to your brother and sister. You are going to gain their trust and everyone around them. We have to get past the barriers in order for the demons to be able to get into the city. If you gain their trust they won't suspect you and you can easily break down the barriers and let the demons in."
"Great plan father, but how am I going to get into Alicante unsuspected? And better yet where am I going to stay? It would be suspicious if I took a horse every night back and fourth to the cave wouldn't it?"
He picked up the folder and placed it into my hands. "You my son are going to become part of a family that lives in Idris. It's not going to he hard because they haven't seen this boy in ten years, not even a picture. It should be very easy to play this part." He took a look at his watch and smiled, "I'm going to be late for a meeting son, but I expect this to be done by the end of the week. Today is Monday, have it done and be back here Friday evening. Goodbye son." With that he walked out of the office and left me alone.
I looked down at the folder and right now it's closed. But this mission has to be done.
My hands moved of their own accord, the folder was opened and I was reading. This boy had grown up on the outside of the city, the same small town as Y/N. He was about the same age as me give or take a month or so. Now he lives in the city with his mother, on Wednesday he is leaving for Alicante to go see his cousins. I'm going to have to dye my hair black because this boy has jet black hair.
And his name is Sebastian Verlac.
