Echidna did not hesitate to attack when we reached the aqueduct. Several dracanae materialized in front of me as Echidna waved a hand. Grabbing my bow, I shot through them as they raised their tridents at me. Waves of dracanae continued to appear in my way as I sliced myself through Echidna's personal guard. Grumbling and muttering curses at the mother of monsters as the dracanae continued to surge forward, I leapt up into the air, exchanging my bow and arrows for my knife and plunged it deep into the earth.
Silver energy erupted and a fissure formed from where my knife pierced into the ground. The dracanae, slivering away from the crack, continued their onslaught, but I saw the uneasiness in their yellow eyes, clearly terrified from the power of the shake. Taking my knife out of the ground, I stood up straight, analyzing the structure of Echidna's army. They were just enough to resemble about 3 cohorts, with a 'centurion' in the front, and their 'praetor', a tall feminine monster, at the back, by Echidna's side.
Unlike the rest of these snake-people, this dracanae held a well-crafted bronze sword with snake patterns running up the flat of the blade. All this happened in about 3 seconds, and soon the army came charging at me again. I calmly took out another knife, and stood ready as they rose against me.
The first dracanae I encountered took no time in rushing towards me, jabbing her trident in my direction. Seeing her straight-forwardness, I grabbed on to the end of it and flung her into another 'cohort'. The 'cohort' scrambled as their fellow monster landed in a pile in the center of their formation, soon dissolving into yelled dust. I started to sprint, creating a wave of destruction in my path, slicing apart any monster eager enough to face me head on.
Occasionally, a few monsters would crumple into dust as I shot small energy blasts at any group of monsters I thought were too organised, changing their emotions from anger to panic, and then to fear. Jumping up to kick two dracanae who were about to stab me from the side, I flung my longer knives into the air and started to fling throwing knives at the further away monsters, cutting away any that decided to run. As I landed, my two longer knives returned to my hands and I stabbed another monster, turning it to yellow dust.
A line of dracanae and started to form in between me and Echidna, their mistress. Taking my second longer knives in my right hand, continuing to stab and slice with my left, I threw it like a boomerang, slicing the guards into dust and at the end, plunging itself into the praetor dracanae. Sadly, this meant that I only had one short distance weapon left, since I would never use Tori's sword for such brash battles.
As I sliced my way through the slowly diminishing army of dracanae, I watched the battle in the distance. Dom and Nemeo fought the Chimera with such fierceness that I never knew was in a tiny kitten. Max and Leah had glanced at the Chimera and ran the other way, and from their looks I remembered that they had encountered the Chimera before, at the top of the Eiffel Tower. Dom sliced at the head of the Chimera, but never managed to hit a solid blow, since he constantly had to leap up to avoid the scorching fiery breath. Nemeo was riding it's back, clawing on the scaly dragon hide, his legs battling against the snake on the Chimera's tail.
Together, Dom and Nemeo soon pushed the Chimera into a nearby wall, and with on final claw to the back and slice to the head, the Chimera dissolved into yellow dust, leaving a lead collar on the floor. Putting the collar on Nemeo, Dom soon returned to help the Roman Army.
Leah stood by Piper's side, the two sisters fighting back to back, reducing their area to dust. Meanwhile, in the air, Jason and Reyna protected the city boundaries against the oncoming griffons, which looked like Labradors with wings and feathers. Tom was hacking away with his spear that if you didn't know him, would have thought that he was a demigod. Had he not his life-saving reflexes similar to one of a demigod's, he would have been mortal-dust by now.
