I've got school next week again, so I wish you all again a Happy New Year. Updates will be back to once a week on Fridays once I get back to school.
I drifted through the unknown, my soul leaving my body as it explored the dream world, which I had managed to understand was something the Egyptians had harnessed to seek information in the form of their Ba, which was only part of their soul. This I had found from Percy's encounter with the Kanes, which could be seen as hilarious from my viewpoint, since I got to fly as a vulture and see a magician that wanted to be a god get trapped inside a snow globe and watch Carter do his work forevermore.
A sitting on a cloud slowly floated towards me, and he put a finger on my forehead. "Child." He said. My head still woozy from pain, I failed to see who he was. "You freed me from my mother's curse by defeating her with the aid of my sister. I will return the favour by showing you what is happening in your world. With your friends."
"Hypnos." I breathed, before everything vanished. My mind felt light as power seeped through his fingers into my brain, and suddenly, I was running through the corridors of the Labyrinth, Max by my side. "Leah, duck!" Yelled Max, as a large boulder came flying above our heads, and I realised that this dream that Hypnos had given me was through the eyes of Leah.
"Pasiphaë! Focus on Pasiphaë!" Leah yelled, and immediately they fell through a hole in the ground. "Is this supposed to be happening!"
"Yea-argh." Poor Max smashed face first on to the top of Pasiphaë's head, and Leah tumbled after him, with a slightly more comfortable landing. Leah's vision flickered, and suddenly there was another her behind Pasiphaë, who seemed to have a slight pinker hue than a normal being. She sang a few notes in Ancient Greek, which seemed to translate as 'Come my mother, beauty of all ages.' Immediately, the surroundings seemed fresher, and a flock of doves carrying olive branches began to swarm around her.
Pasiphaë stumbled, and as she reached to grab the Pink Leah, Pink Leah vanished and she smashed face first into the ground. Max immediately jabbed her shoulder, and she shrieked in pain, before muttering an incantation that I translated as 'Heal the wounds thou enemy casts upon thee.' I had no idea where the old English came from, but it reminded me of Zoë Nightshade, and Percy's guilt crashed upon me. Luckily, this was just a dream, so my massive emotional breakdowns wouldn't affect Leah's performance.
"Get her!" Yelled Max, as Pasiphaë shouted another incantation, this one which meant 'Icy terrain', and Max skid across the icy surface as the ground frosted, unable to regain his balance. Leah, however, was swept off her feet (literally) by the doves, where she began to sing again. 'Enter the Enchantress soul, her darkness that flies true. Let her spirit fly beyond, for darkness is her doom.' (Sorry I'm in a poetry mood?) Pasiphaë wailed as her body writhed beyond her control, and a small comet like shape began to stretch from the amulet on her necklace.
"Protect! Protect!" she screeched like a cat that had its tail stepped on. But it was no use, Leah's charmspeak and singing was too powerful and soon began to overtake Pasiphaë's protective spells, and the glowing marks on her gown began to shatter one by one.
"You are so weary, Pasiphaë. The gods scorned you, even though you were a child of the Titans. You were a disgrace to your husband, for you birthed the child of a bull, the Minotaur. You payed for crimes you never did, and instead birthed life to the Labyrinth that moves below the surface." Leah said, her voice soft and subtle, and Pasiphaë began to sway, her eyes drooping. "You want to give in. Go to a life where your soul is at peace, where this is no bias, and in a world where the Labyrinth is no more. Give in."
Pasiphaë slumped to the floor, and as Max impaled her through his spear, Leah sang frantically. "Let us safe passage through the tunnels, for the land under the hills are old. Let the mistress spirit be bound, for stories yet untold. Let her soul protect us as we travel, but destroy where dangers lie. Let her rest in pain and suffering, before her heart can ever cry." Max and Leah ran for their lives as Pasiphaë's body crumbled into dust that covered their escape, the Labyrinth walls turning on itself, random crevices appearing on the floor, and it was only Max's mortal eyes that led them through to the light.
To Camp Half-blood.
As the ground rumbled underneath, Max and Leah leapt forward, crashing through the caving hole where they escaped the Labyrinth once and for all.
But still, it wasn't a very pretty sight to see, since Jason and Piper were locked in a fierce battle with Kampé, and the place around them were starting to set on fire, except for the cabins. That was strange. Why would the cabins be safeguarded? A small symbol on the roof of each of the cabins answered my question, a small 'π' sign glowing fiercely against any fiery arrows being shot towards it.
Jason and Piper pressed on against Kampé, Piper slashing away the scimitars with a quick slash of her sword and Katropis, while the animal head on Kampé's waist that spit poisonous gas was deflected by Jason, who then plunged his sword up, and the she-monster collapsed, Piper's icy sword freezing Kampé solid. Jason used the winds to lift Kampé high into the air, and then dropped it, and the monster was nothing but shattered pieces of ice in the sweet smelling Greek air.
My dream then switched to Annabeth's perspective, and I watched as she and Percy moved as a team, even with Annabeth leaping on to Percy's back to launch on to a Laistrygonian. Percy had stabbed a Hypoborean with Riptide, and then held his breath and dived under, yelling "hit the deck!" simultaneously, as the frost giants cold breath froze a couple of gryphons out of the sky.
Percy used his water powers to fling the gryphons into a bunch of Earthborn, and before the six-armed monsters could move, they were flattened by an ice-cold bunch of monsters. Percy covered himself in water like and aqua jet and knocked into the Hypoborean, and the giant tumbled over into another squadron of monsters, and the weapons that the monsters held defeated the giant, and all was left was a fine layer of monster dust.
The dream then switched to the Hunters of Artemis, where Thalia and Reyna fought side by side, Thalia's spear crackling with blue electricity, and Reyna's cloak providing the much needed shield that they used to diffuse bombs that were being thrown. My fellow white wolves, the true hunters of Artemis, were nonetheless fierce, tearing apart werewolf after werewolf of their sworn enemies, the lycanthropes.
Thalia seemed to have honed her electricity conducting powers, because now she threw bolts of electricity from her hands alone, while Reyna's forearm looked like it was about to catch fire from how hot it was, showing that clearly, even though she was mentally unstable and close to dying from depression, she still had the same courage and nobility that only she could have.
The Hunters stood behind them, clad in silver, bows drawn as their hands moved lightning fast, faster than mine, as their movements were mechanical. The moment the arrows on their bow left the bowstring, they had already reached for more, and just like this, the monsters fell from the onslaught. Only few were injured, and those were most likely the newest recruits, since the Giant War had left few survivors of the original Hunt.
Mother was yet unseen, but still, I could not tear my eyes away from the destruction that the monsters brought with them. The fact that demigods lay broken on the floor. It wasn't something I could cope with.
Slowly, my vision faded into another scene as I drifted away.
Happy New Year!!! Thank you for being a wonderful reading audience, even though there aren't many of you (yet.) I wish you all a prosperous 2017!
