I wanted to update this on 21/12/2016, but today is 26/12/2016. I'm gonna try to update two more times this week to compensate the ones I missed.
Whirling around with a bow, I shot an arrow through the eyes of a spider that had began to crawl towards me, before ducking down into a crouch, the Keres that was nearly swiped off my head crashing into the centaur in front of me, both of them dissipating into dusts and shadows. I kept my crouch, a sprinting as fast as I could in that position as I cut the legs off as many monsters as I could, hitting and Arai to topple it instead of getting a nasty curse.
I loved this feeling, the feeling of blood coating my arms, monster dust in the air, the fear in the hearts of the monsters as I stalked towards them... Oh the life of a demigod. Although I felt happiness now, I knew the fear and the anguish would come rushing back to me after the battle ended. Not just the physical battle, but the battle against insanity in my mind, and the battle against heartlessness in my soul.
I knew I was nasty, there wasn't an inch of me that wasn't. But it was that, the part of me that embraced it, that helped me through this. Giving up in long range combat, I returned the arrow still taut in my bow back to my quiver, and turned my bow back into a pendant. Fighting with two small daggers, I somersaulted above the group and landed, spinning around as I did. Monsters at my feet (or at my eye level, since I wasn't very tall, being only 15), wailed in pain, and a centaur began to walk towards me.
Grabbing a rock from the ground, probably chipped off from the impact of my blast a few minutes earlier, I threw it into the middle of a group skeleton warriors. The spartus immediately turned on each other, tearing each other to bits and pieces as I watched in amusement. It was funny how much you could learn on how to defeat the seemingly 'impossible to kill' monsters just by reviewing the times when they did get killed: Jason and Medea's defeat of the spartus, Bellephron's defeat of the Chimaera, even how Hercules killed the Lake Hydra.
As you see, it pays to be a nerd. You get to laugh at people and you get to be one whenever you like.
The unnatural wind pushed my dark hair into my eyes, and I swept it away, before narrowing my eyes at the incoming person. Tom. His brown hair covered his eyes, hiding the fact that they swirled in hypnotic patterns, and his thin smile was cruel. Despite this, I could still tell why Leah had liked him in first. Being a son of Confusion, he could seem charming and a nice guy, but I never liked him.
Behind him, trailing like a loyal puppy was Alice, her bronze blade gleaming despite the darkness, and her stringy blonde hair was tied up in a loose pony-tail, sweeping aside as she hung on to Tom's shoulder. And at the moment, all the fighting stopped. Leah finished off a whole row of monsters as they stood frozen... But in what?
In time. I had knew it. Nyx stood behind the pair, her huge self towering above the battlefield. This time, she sat among her dark chariot, led by her horrible vampire horses Shade and Shadow, silver fangs shining unnaturally. "Bring them." she said, and two arai came out with Max and Emily in chains, gagged. Emily's golden locks were torn off at one side, her hands bruised, and her face covered in blood, and I resisted a gasp. Max seemed to be faring better, a long gash running across his ripped shirt, and he seemed to trying to shake his head, conveying some sort of message.
"We have your friends, little archer girl. Put down your weapons and come to me peacefully. At least I will let you see the rise of my Mansion with VIP seats." Nyx said as the arai handed them over to Alice and Max.
Max was still shaking his head, up and down, until I heard a faint click. He knelt on the floor with his hands on his head, and as his fingers counted down from three, I understood. "Emily!" I yelled, tackling her to the floor as I turned into a wolf. Max shook his head vigorously as the countdown ended, and two pins shot out of the edge of his cracked glasses, both getting Alice and Tom in the neck as they crumpled to the floor.
The monsters immediately unfroze and began to rush towards Max, who, using the nearest standing object (me) to rely on, kicked a dracanae with a trident away. Using the chains in between his manacles, he strangled the nearby centaur and sent it stampeding into the arai that had held him, the centaur wailing into dust as the curses fell upon him. A sword-bearing shade swung his sword down, and Max turned around swiftly, the sword slicing away his restraint.
I grinned as I carried Emily away to a corner, creating a safety shield of silver light against the darkness to protect her, as she lay wheezing and coughing. Putting my hand to her feverish forehead, I gave her a quick prayer that Tori had taught me before I made a move to rush back into battle, but a pale hand caught my arm. Dom.
"I'll take care of Emily." he said. "Her life essence is ebbing, but since she's not fully dead, I can't help her. I'll be back in about three seconds." He shadow-traveled away and I let down the shield, before Leah came stalking towards me. Destroying a desperate telkhine with a clean and precise puncture, she yelled at me.
"Where's the butterfly?" she asked.
"Butterfly?" I said, swinging around to decapitate the dracanae about to swipe off Leah's head, "you mean Dom?"
"Yes!" she answered, leaping over me to deliver a kick to a nearby shade as I ducked to let her past.
"Off to send Emily to a hospital. She's barely breathing."
"And I'm back!" yelled Dom, appearing from the shadows.
"Indeed, my little son of the shadows. All 3 of you pesky little demigods together." The dark figure of Nyx appeared behind him, holding in her hands two pale figures, Tom and Alice, both a sickly shade of green. "That was a nasty trick you played, with poisoned pins of stygian iron. But my generals will more than easily beat you to pulp." She then turned to me. "And you, child of the Moon, my dear Arthella Carter. You were so slick, freeing Hecate and Atlas and bringing them to Olympus, while replacing the sky-bearer with Prometheus. I nearly didn't notice."
"You never noticed when I sneaked out of you time flux. You froze time, and I still escaped. You need to fix that." I thrusted my blazing hands down, and the silver energy from my body reached the ground, burning an entire battalion to crisp.
"Show-off." muttered Leah.
Dom in return snapped his finger, and a troop of laistrygonians crumpled into dust.
"Another show-off." she groaned, and I could nearly feel her mental face-palm.
"You will never win. Even now, my armies are taking over Camp Half-blood and the Roman Legion. I will show you." A shadowy screen appeared like an Iris-Message, and it showed the Greek Troops obliterating the monster armies, sending monsters flying into the arai to stop the curses from cursing them, and instead cursing the poor monsters. Cyclops and gegenes were flung from side to side by the rampaging demigods, and soon, the monsters were no more.
Until they showed up on the back of the army... But with their numbers halved and the rest injured. The Romans came marching forward, golden armor gleaming, and I saw Frank at the front, the legion's Eagle proud and bright, as he yelled, "12 LEGION FULMINATA!", the electricity coursing through the air and diminishing another half of the army's numbers.
"No. No! This is not possible? How have the demigods known about the second army?" Nyx glared at Tom. "My loyal strategist, how can this be?"
"We must have underestimated the demigods, my lady. I will take the punishment for my mistake."
"You underestimated us, and you forgot that Hemera was listening the entire time." I interjected. "And as everyone knows, demigods always have prophetic dreams."
"My traitorous child." Nyx snarled. "The world will pay for her ignorance."
She glanced at us.
"And you three will be the first. After them!"
