"What do you mean, 'we just killed ourselves'?!" I screamed at Minho.
"No one survives a night in the Maze," Minho said.
"That doesn't mean we won't!" I protested.
"Look girly, I don't have time for your ignorance!" Minho glared at me. "No one has survived a night in this Maze. How the shuck are we supposed to? Just accept the fact that you'll never see the light of day again!"
Minho's words hit me hard. After all those times I almost killed myself, I now realized that I wasn't ready to die yet. I couldn't die. Not yet, at least.
"What's wrong with him?" Thomas asked, pointing at Alby.
"What does it look like?" Minho said, annoyed. "He's been stung."
Suddenly, we heard the sound of a Griever.
"Shuck," Minho cursed.
"What was that?" Thomas asked.
"A Griever," I answered.
"We have to split up and run," Minho instructed.
"We can't leave Alby," Thomas said.
"Are you crazy?" Minho looked at Thomas with a shocked expression.
"He's our leader," Thomas said. "And it's not like he's dead. We have to help him."

"Well...I gotta go," Minho sprinted away.
"Minho! Wait!" Thomas called after him but he didn't stop running.
"What are we supposed to do now?" I asked, trying not to show my fear.
"You mean you're not going to abandon me too?"
"No," I admitted. "I won't survive on my own. And I need to make it through the night."
"Why so determined?" Thomas asked.
"Don't you want to live too?"
"Of course I do," Thomas said. "But I feel as though you have more than one reason for surviving."
I nodded my head and whispered, "Newt."
I didn't know whether Thomas heard me or not but either way, he turned his attention to Alby. "Where's a good place to hide him?" Thomas asked me.
I looked around. "There's nowhere to hide," I said. "There's just a bunch of ivy on the walls."
Thomas thought for a moment then he looked at me. It seemed as though a light bulb had turned on in his head. "Ivy."
"Ivy?" I asked, slightly tilting my head to the side.
He nodded. "Ivy."
(Maybe ivy will be our always- what up The Fault in Our Stars reference! XD )
"Are you sure this is going to work?" I asked Thomas as we tied the ivy around Alby.
"Hopefully it will," Thomas replied.
"'Hopefully'?!"
"Well I've obviously never done this before so how should I know?"
"I guess this is what happens when you're stuck in the Maze with a Greenie," I muttered.
"Technically, I'm not the Greenie anymore," Thomas said. "That new girl is."
I didn't say anything.
Soon we were both pulling Alby up the wall so that he will be hidden in the ivy so Grievers wouldn't notice him. I was surprised Thomas's plan actually worked.
"There," Thomas said once we were done. "Now Alby's safe."

"Yeah," I said, not bothering to hide the fear in my voice. "But we're not."
Thomas dragged me around the corner and we quickly hid ourselves in the ivy. We held our breath as the sounds of the Griever grew louder.
I squeezed my eyes shut as the Griever passed us. I didn't open my eyes until Thomas tapped me on the shoulder, motioning with his hands to follow him.
I did as I was told, my head turning left and right every five seconds, terrified that I might see a hideous monster next to me. We silently made our way over to where we left Alby. I was relieved to see that he was exactly where we left him.

I whipped around and froze when I saw a Griever making its way over to us. I could feel Thomas tapping my shoulder but I couldn't move. My body was paralyzed with fear.
"Addison," Thomas whispered.
I tried to talk but I couldn't. The Griever was coming closer and I still couldn't move.
"Addison," Thomas said. "Addison,we have to go!"
The Griever was about five feet away from us when Thomas picked me up and carried me over his shoulder as he ran away from the Griever.
That snapped me out of my shock and fear. "I can run now," I told Thomas.
"You sure?" He asked.
"Positive."
"Okay, I'll put you down on the count of three," Thomas said. "As soon as your feet touch the ground, start running."
"Good that."
I could see the Griever chasing us. The Griever was about ten feet away from us. Thomas was running surprisingly fast for someone who was carrying another person but we needed to run faster if we wanted to lose the Griever.
"One, two, three!" Thomas lifted me off of him and as soon as my feet touched the ground, I ran as fast as I could, leaving Thomas at my heels.
"You sure are fast," Thomas commented.
"Yup," I said, not wanting to waste my breath on talking. A few moments later, Thomas was running right beside me.
"What if we run into a dead end?" Thomas asked me.
I glanced around the Maze as I ran. I knew this place. Very well. "Don't worry," I said. "We won't."
Thomas gave me a confused look.
"Follow me," I ordered. Then I concentrated completely on the Maze. Right, left, left, right, right, right..
Then I saw a figure standing at the end of the corridor.
"What in the name of shucking shuck are you doing?!" Minho called out to us.
Then the Griever rounded the corner.
"Well I've been shucked and gone to heaven...it's a Griever!" Minho's jaw dropped.
"NO DUH!" I yelled at him.
"Follow me!" Minho said before sprinting down the corridor.
Thomas and I picked up our pace until we were at Minho's heels.
"Where are you going?" Thomas asked.
"Well," Minho said. "I have a plan. I just don't know if it'll work."
I looked up ahead to see if there were any hints to what Minho's "plan" was. As soon as I saw, I gave him a confused look. "The Cliff?"
"Yes."
"What the heck is the Cliff?!" Thomas shouted.
"Be quiet, Greenie!" Minho snapped at him. "Anyway, once we reach the end of this corridor, we're going to either go right or left and hopefully the Griever won't have time to move to the side with us and it'll run off the edge."
"This better work, slinthead," I glared at him but since I had no better plan, I had to go along with his.
"We're getting toward the end of the corridor!" Thomas exclaimed.
"Thanks for pointing out the obvious!" I said through gritted teeth. It was more likely I'd die from the stupidity of these two knuckleheads than the Maze and Grievers itself.
"One!" Minho yelled out. "Two! Three! Go!"
I jumped to the right along with Minho as Thomas lunged to the left. As Minho had planned, the Griever ran straight off the Cliff.
I watched as if fell then disappeared. "Where'd it go?"
"No idea," Minho said.
"Whoa," Thomas said in awe.
I sat down and tried to catch my breath. It had been a long night of running.
Thomas walked over to the edge of the Cliff.
"Careful," Minho advised him.
"I know," Thomas said as he picked up a rock and threw it in the exact spot where the Griever had disappeared. The rock disappeared as well.
"What the shuck?" Minho's eyes widened. He stepped closer towards the edge of the Cliff. He stared out into the open space for a few minutes. Then, like Thomas, he picked up a rock and threw it. It, too, disappeared.
I watched the two of them experimenting with the throwing of the rocks and then suddenly, my head felt weird. I felt the blood draining from my head. I buried my face in my hands and put my head down, trying to get the blood rush back to my head.
"Addison?" Minho knelt beside me. "Are you okay?"
"I-I feel lightheaded," I said. "I feel like I'm going to throw up."
"Thomas!" Minho called out to the Greenie. "Help me get Addison over to the edge of the Cliff."
I wasn't aware of what was happening anymore. My eyes were open but all I saw was a blur. Then a memory came to me.
"Addison," a woman's voice said to me. "Remember the Cliff."
"Of course," I replied.
"Oh and Addison?"
"Hmm?"
"WICKED is good," the woman said. With that, she walked out of the room and closed the door, leaving me alone.
I looked at the floor, a look of disgust on my face. "WICKED is good," I said in a mocking tone.
"Addison?" Thomas shook me. "Addison! Can you hear me?"
"A memory!" I shouted.
Minho gave me a confused look. "What?"
"I had a-" I stopped myself. Should I tell them? I decided not to. "Never mind. I uh just blanked out."
"Okay," was all Minho said but I could tell he didn't believe me.
"Should we get back to Alby?" Thomas asked.
"Yeah," Minho said. I got up and followed them as we retraced our steps back to Alby.
"I'm surprised he's still up there, safe and sound," Minho looked impressed.
"Addi and I did a good job," Thomas looked very pleased.
"It's almost morning," Minho pointed out. "We might as well get at least some sleep."
We found a safe place nearby Alby. We were all sitting upright next to each other with me in the middle. We covered ourselves with ivy and Minho and Thomas fell asleep right away. I played back the memory from earlier in my head. I had so many questions but no answers. After pondering for what seemed like forever, I finally fell asleep.
