It had been 2 weeks since the drama started and Chanel and Shanique were still not speaking to each other. Chanel felt like everyday that passed a little bit more of her soul was taken from her. She was suffering from a severe case of "Shanique withdrawal" given that they had been best friends for as long as she could remember. She knew it was stupid to be fighting with her when now that she thought about it she wasn't even sure what they were fighting for. She just really wanted to hug her best friend close and pretend like the last 2 weeks hadn't happened and develop the romantic feelings she knew were true for her best friend. Although they weren't on speaking terms anymore she still knew Shanique better than anyone else and Nique knew her the same way. They were inseparable and her absence only made Chanel love her more. In the past if they weren't around each other then Shanique was in some corner of the library curled up with a good romance or erotica novel. Maybe that's where she learned to kiss so good she thought fleetingly but didn't dwell on it not when she was about to pretend like she didn't still want Shanique. Didn't still dream about that kiss and where it could have led if she hadn't been a coward and backed away.
Making her way across campus on the wet green grass she arrived at the literature library across from one of the school halls. She quickly handed her bag to the girl behind the baggage counter and entered the library after showing her ID to the security guard there.
She walked around the library twice before she spotted her best friend. She had her back turned to her and was sitting on her sweater in a far corner where the old historical romance novels that no one read were shelved. The space was small but could hold them both since they were both slim girls.
Shanique
She felt the exact moment when Nellie showed up. It had always been that way for her like she had a sixth sense linked to her best friend's body GPS. She didn't turn around though and hoped she wouldn't be noticed. She knew she looked awful and had puffy red eyes since she had been crying just minutes before for the loss of her best friend. She felt like that was all she did these days. Mourn.
No such luck. Nellie sat beside her wordlessly with their shoulders touching. It was like this for a few minutes just breathing in each other's presence. She felt the need to break the silence.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to disregard your feelings, it's just I don't think you really feel that way about me. It was a heat of the moment thing and we got carried away. I should have never let it get that far and regret that it happened and tore us even further apart than the secret had. You're my best friend, my other half and I never meant for this to come between us. I had always planned on telling you but we were sisters, kept nothing from each other and I didn't want you to feel betrayed or unworthy of my trust. I never meant for it to happen this way and pray we'll be able to get back to how we were, this time with no secrets." She blew out a breath and waited for Chanel to respond.
Chanel felt like her mind was overflowing with thoughts and everything she wanted to say was jumbled up like an unsolved jigsaw puzzle - the only difference was that there were some missing pieces. Doubt had broken a few pieces so that they no longer fit together. She wanted Nique to want her, to feel the same way she did, to have her blood simmer when they touched but Shanique wanted them to pretend like nothing had happened. She wanted her to pretend like she hadn't spent the last two weeks dreaming of them having a future together. Chanel wanted to explain that no one had ever caused this intense need within her before and she wanted desperately to see where it would take them. She wanted to pour out her feelings right there among the books with poetic lines, drawing inspiration from them until Shanique agreed they were meant to be. Okay was all she said instead and they sat in silence once more until Shanique resumed reading.
She left shortly after that to collect her bag at the baggage counter. The girl there was either a psychic or her feelings were transparent to everyone except Shanique because she got a pitying look from her. She chose to ignore it and handed over the card to get her bag. When she reached to retrieve it the girl said "Hey! You're kinda cute. What's your name?"
"Chanel" she said briefly with her hand stretched out to receive her bag.
"You should call me sometime" the girl said writing her name and number on a gum wrapper and handing it over along with her bag. She had dark chocolate skin, pretty light brown eyes and pink lips with the perfect bow. She looked to be tall, around 5"8 but the counter was blocking her body so she couldn't check her out completely. Nellie could tell she was slim though from her slender face and neck. She was kinda cute herself but Chanel didn't tell her so, instead she nodded and walked away.
A/N: Hey loves o/. What's good? How are you liking the story so far? I haven't really considered a cast so tell me who you think matches my characters? What do you think about Nellie and Nique? Do you think they'll end up together or will Nellie fall for this new girl? Comment, vote and talk to me. I promise to respond to every comment and PM.
Oh yeah and can someone tell me how to dedicate chapters? I'm new to this *monkey face* but got a comment last week that inspired me to continue writing.
