Someone Who Understands: Marceline And Marshal Lee

Marceline and Marshal Lee sat by an apple tree. They picked some and started to suck the red out of it. The two Abadeers couldn't look straight at each other. They always hid most of their feelings and past from their friends. Now came someone who basically knew every aspect of their life. Marshal Lee flew off, sensing the awkwardness in the situation.

"Look, I'm as weirded out by this as you are, so there's no point in hiding it." Marshal Lee, was about to leave when Marceline stopped her. "Wait. If we are really the same, then you know everything about me. About my past. You understand me, right?" Marceline looked emotionally vulnerable. The only times she was like that was when her dad ate her fries, her ex-boyfriend Ashe sold hambo, and when she heard the song Simon made her before he went full ice king. But Marshal Lee knew all of this. Because he lived those moments and looked the same way as she did right now. He couldn't help but feel sorry for her.. Or for himself. He was undecided at the moment. It's one thing to feel sorry for someone, but to feel like that with someone whose basically you in a different body.

"Yeah, I do. More than I want to believe." Marshal Lee sat by her and started singing.

But, I'm losing myself and I'm afraid you're gonna lose me, too

Marceline was looking at him with a surprise look. "How? How do you know this song?" tears were forming in her eyes. "I just remembered how Simone used to make up silly songs for me before we got seperated after the Mushroom war. Even when she was losing herself, she never stopped thinking of me. I just you're Simone made one for you too, so I tweeked it a bit to sound like your version." Marshal Lee kept humming the song. Marceline was now resting on his shoulder. Still crying, but with a smile on her face. "His name was Simon you lame brain." Marshal Lee's face turned red for the first time since a very long time. He felt a different warmth. His mind drifted to his time with Simone. How happy he was when he was with her, and how sad he was when they were seperated. Marshal Lee had always felt lost since then. He was still lost, but with Marceline holding tight on his arms, it doesn't seem so bad now.
