We arrived at the track where Rogue Speed was going to have their event two weeks from now. Coconut seemed tremendously excited to test her car out, like I'v said before she's driven her car yes, but not at high speeds, so now its time we teach'd her how drag racing works.
We got the car onto the strait track and I approached the driver side door.
"Hey, how you feeling?" I asked
"Fine, just trying to see past that big supercharger and blower sticking out of the hood." Coconut replied
"You'll get used to it, trust me, so a few things first, typically before a race both drivers do a burnout to build up traction in the rear tires, better traction mean means a better launch and a better launch means a faster time, to do one hold down the break and gas pedals, let of the break slightly."
"How will I know if I'v done it right?" Coconut asked
"You'll see smoke start to form behind the car, but don't do it for to long or you'll lose the traction, once the burnout is finished your gonna want to pull forward until those two sets of lights on top of the tree there light up at which point your gonna want to have the car at a steady rev, I'll flip the switch for the tree and you'll see those three lights go down and when you see the green light let off the break and keep one hand firmly gripped on the steering wheel and the other hand on the shifter, if you start to swerve off of launch let off the gas and forcefully apply the breaks."
"And what if the front end lifts up like your Supra did at RaceWarz?" She asked
"Ride it, it'll come down, but when it does you have to have a firm grip on the wheel and be ready to shift an-"
"I know when to shift." Coconut said with a smirk.
"Hmm, let's see then, I'll be with Ox and the others, good luck, oh and roll the window back up, it helps with air flow." I said as I walked over to the others.
"You think she'll be ok?" Kashou asked.
"It is her first time at speeds like this." Ox added
"I have complete confidence in her." I replied
And with that the Mustang's engine came to life with a loud roar followed by the squealing of tires and smoke.
"Well, she got that part right." Kashou said
"Damn right." I said
The Mustang pulled to the staging lane and one I heard the steady rev I picked up the switch.
"Here we go, show time." I said as I flicked the switch.
I watched as the lights moved down the tree, once green hit that Mustang took off down the drag strip, I looked at the time.......6.99 seconds. I couldn't believe it, she clocked a 6 second time.
"Damn, she handled that perfectly." Ox said
"Yeah, she did." I said amazed.
It was a while before Coconut got back to the starting line and shut the engine off.
"How was that?" She asked with a smirk.
"You ran six seconds." I said amazed
"Really! I swear it felt like at least eight seconds." Coconut said shocked.
"Let's run it a few more times, Karols Mustang runs in the early sevens so its possible for her to run a late six."
After about five or six more passes we loaded the Mustang back onto the trailer and headed back to the bakery, Coconut road along with me and wouldn't stop shaking.
"Are you alright?" I asked concerned
"Fine, just happy, I'm excited to start racing." She replied
"Good, glad you have a positive outlook on it." I said
"And I have you to thank for that." Coconut said
"Your welcome." I say
"Can I thank you in another way?" Coconut asked.
"How?" I questioned.
"You'll see, let's find Cinnamon."
