Ch.25 Sunset highway

I woke up and found my two Neko's snuggled to me, Coconut on right and Cinnamon on the left. I smiled and petted their heads as I slowly climbed out of bed, I showered and got dressed for the day and headed down to the living room. Tonight we were all heading to sunset highway for some late night racing.

I found the living room and kitchen vacant and walked out to the garage and found everyone working on their cars. "Now this, this is truly a sight, why can't we all come together like this everyday?" I asked

"Because, I'm a part time baker and the neko's help out with the bakery." Kashou replied

"Hmmm, maybe have a car show here at the bakery sometime." I said

"Hmm, well out parking lot is pretty big." Maple added.

"Yeah, and it's be great to see what cars everyone has." Azuki replied

"Sounds fun!" Chocola said cheerfully.

"It would be a great way to scope out the competition." Vanilla said

"Then should we have one some time, we'll call it cars and cakes." I said

"Now that's a good name for it." Ox said

"Isn't it, anyway, I see you're all preparing for Sunset highway tonight." i said

"What about nuts?" Azuki asked

"What about coconut?" I asked

"Will she be racing tonight?"

"Most likely, why?"

"Just wondering."

"You're still worried about her racing?" I asked.

"A little." Azuki replied

"Relax, she's just fine, plus this will be good practice for when she auditions for Rogue Speed." I say

Everyone paused and looked at me wide eyed except for Ox, Kashou and Cinnamon who already knew.

"S-she's what?" Azuki asked amazed

"Karol gave Coconut a chance to join Rogue Speed, all she has to do is beat Karol and sign a contract and she's in." I reply.

"She's going to beat her isn't she?" Azuki asked.

"Yeah, most likely." I say with a smile.

"Well we should finish our set ups for tonight." Ox said.

"Yeah I'll leave you guys to it." I say walking out of the garage.

I got in my car and pulled out onto the street followed by the others, we got on the highway and before I knew it we were in a single file line driving down the highway, I saw a sign that read "sunset road" and headed down the off ramp to find parking lots full of cars, tuners, muscles, european super cars, you name it it was probably there somewhere.

We parked and I got out of my car and walked around a bit followed by Coconut and Cinnamon. We checked out cars and met a few people. Soon it was time to race, and tuners vs muscles was tonights race bracket. Azuki was up first against a black charger

The two headed up to Sunset highway and I watched as Azuki's RX7 slowly pulled ahead of the charger and won, next up was Coconut against a silver S15.

I met her by her Mustang. "Hey, just remember what I taught you I said

She nodded and got in her car and drove up to the start line. There was no way that S15 was gonna beat that Mustang, I watched as the S15 got left behind. I smiled, thats how its done.

Azuki and Coconut were winning races all night until "The" race happened.

Coconut drove up and parked next to an oddly familiar RX7. I rand over to the driver side window of coconuts car.

"Hey, you will not believe who you're up against." I said

"Who?" Coconut asked

I nodded in the direction of her opponent. She looked over to see Azuki smirking as she put her helmet on.

"No way." Coconut said

I handed coconut her helmet, "this will be the turning point for you guys, this will prove to her you're ready and that she doesn't have to worry anymore." I said

"She's still worrid about me?" Coconut asked.

"Yeah, she wants you to prove that you're ready by beating her in a race."

Coconut smiled,"she never changes."

"She will if you win, good luck."

Coconut put her helmet on as I left, I hopped over the barrier and joined Ox, Kashou and the rest of the neko's.

We all watched as coconut destroyed Azuki in the race, pulling bus lengths on her RX7.

We waited for coconut and Azuki to return to the parking lot, once they arrived it was a celebration, coconut was practically crying out of happiness and Azuki was standing proud of her sister. A girl broke through the surrounding crowd and handed Coconut an envelope.

"Congratulations on winning, enjoy this." She disappeared back into the crowd.

"Who was that?" Coconut asked

"That was Rachel Teller, she runs the whole underground racing scene, I haven't seen her since I left Bayview though, surprised she didn't notice me." I say.

We went home that night and Coconut opened her envelope and pulled out a check for five hundred thousand dollars.

"Buy yourself something nice with that, you earned it." I said
