Lake Break

Zack's POV
summer after eighth grade

Every year the Hathaway's and My family go on a camping trip. Summer always brings a friend. This time, her friend that she brought happened to be the very girl I had a crush on. That girl was Tomika Spencer-Williams. The car ride was four hours. I sat in Summer's car with her and Tomika. We talked and watched a movie. But finally, after four hours, we were there. I climbed out of the car and instantly went to use the bathroom. After that, I helped my dad set up the tent. After that I went and sat at the edge of the dock to take a "lake break" as my mom called it. I sat there and watched the sunset when so one joined me. It was Tomika.

"Hey." I said.

"Hi," she said.

"What's up?"

"Watching the sunset."

"Are you having fun so far?"

"Yeah, it's just Summer was being a little bossy and I needed a break."

"Oh."

"But she's my best friend, I'm used to it."

I smiled and without thinking pushed Tomika in the lake. She fell in, arms flailing and came up above the water.

"Dude!" She yelled.

"What?" I laughed, barely able to breathe. When all of a sudden I felt a tug on my leg. I came crashing onto the water. I came up a live and was about to say something when Tomika beat me to it.

"Alls fair in love and war." She smirked. I laughed and dunked her. She came up smiling and kissed me. Sorry I meant to say SHE KISSED ME! I kissed back and we pulled apart seconds later.

"Wow, that was some lake break."
