Chapter 16 Study Now: Basketball Later

“Hey, what’s with those books?” Kagami asks as he saw Hikari enters the gym with lots of books.

          “We should catch up with our studies, because of the camp we cannot attend classes and we didn’t take up many lessons then.” She explains.

          “She’s right.” Izuki agreed.

          “We only have 3 days to catch up with the lessons because next week with will be the examination day.” She added.

          “Oh I almost forgot.” Kagami said then scratches the back of his head.

          “Do you know too that if you didn’t pass the exams, you cannot play basketball until you pass the next exams.” She said.

          “What!? Are you serious?” He shouts.

          “Kagami-kun, don’t shout.” Tetsuya said with monotonous voice and poker face. Riko enters the gym.

          “Guys, we will not have our practice until after exams.” She said and sighs.

          “The sensei said that those who will not pass the exam shall take another and cannot participate in practice until he didn’t pass the next exam.” She explained. Kagami looks at Hikari and she replied with I-told-you-so look.

          “Hikari-chan lets review on the library.” Riko invites her.

          “Sure, let’s go.” Then they started to walk when Hikari stops at the door way.

          “What are you all waiting for? Let’s go.” She said and starts to walk again. The whole team then follows them at the library.

          At the library they decided to start catching up with the lesson they didn’t taken up because of the camp. The 2nd years sits together in one table and the 1st years are on the other.

          “Furihata-kun, are you alright?” Hikari said as she notices his uneasiness.

          “A-ah hai, it’s just…” he said looking at his notebook. She looks at his notebook and understands it now.

          “Hmmmmm, you must simplify this first before you perform the operations.” She said and she starts to tutor him for a while.

          “Only that?” he asks and she nods. “I thought that it was difficult. Thanks to you.” He thanks her.

          “You’re welcome.” She said as she smiles.

          “Ah I have an idea. Why don’t we just teach each other? Lets teach the subjects we are good to those who aren’t.” she suggested.

          “Yeah that’s a good idea.”

          “Alright what subjects are you good at?” she asks and one by one they state their strengths and starts so study by pair. Later then, in the middle of silence.

          “Arrrrghhh, I can’t understand.” Kagami shouts. Hikari covers his mouth and look at the people in the library.

          “I’m sorry; you may continue what you’re doing.” She gives fake laughs and look at Kagami who is annoyed.

          “Remember, we are in the library Taiga-kun. Please don’t make noise.” She said and then releases him.

          “I’m sorry, I can’t help it. I’m so bored and I want to play already.” He explains.

          “We want too Kagami-kun. But please stay focus for a while.” Tetsuya said.

          “He’s right Taiga-kun. What part is hard for you? Maybe, I can help you.” She said and they continue reviewing.

          Kuroko silently staring at Hikari while tutoring Kagami. He sighs and get back to what he was suppose to do. After a while they decided to continue it tomorrow and go home since it’s getting late.

          “Ah Hikari-san, can we talk for a while?” Tetsuya asks her as they walking home together.

          “Sure, why not.” She answered and they go to a playground and sit on the swings.

          “You know what my favorite part of a playground is the swing she said as she swings her self. “What are you going to say Tetsuya-kun?” she asks. He lowers his head before he speaks.

          “I don’t know how to say this but I want to be honest to you and to my self.” He said, she stops swinging and look at him intently.
