Chapter 7:

Lexie:

I walked Cody home, wearing a woolly hoodie and gloves and a scarf and boots. When I got home my mom and my dad were waiting inside the door

'oh no' I said to myself

'Lexie, what did you do?' my mom asked in an angry tone

'I thought it was Stella back from boarding school, so I ran down to see her. But. . . she wasn't there. Cody was. I'm really sorry but you can trust him, I know his secrets so if he tells I can tell his, but he wouldn't. I trust him' I was starting to ramble on, mom smirked at dad

'she likes him, Christopher' she said, he frowned, he swore

'he's my friend, that's it' I said embarrassed as hell

'hmm. Get to your room, we'll come up with a punishment later' he said

'for going down to see my sister?! that's so stupid!'

'no for being careless, again in the same month! ' he said getting angry I shut up after sighing and I marched up the stairs. I prayed Cody could be trusted, I knew he could. No-one understood. Except...  I climbed on the windowsill and sat in a crouch, I hadn't ever tried this before. I closed my eyes and took a deep breathe and jumped praying this would work I felt the air fly past me. Yep. I was falling to my death. I waited for all my bones to crush, I was still falling? I reached out my hand to feel the wall of my house. It wasn't there, I opened one eye  and I was in the air, unconsciously flying North I looked at my back andd I had small bat wings. I needed to turn West I moved my arms like I was swimming. That seemed to work. I kept going until I saw the farmilliar flat-roofed house I hadn't seen in years. I tried to dive as if I was swiming again. I landed on the roof. I peered over the edge. I saw an open window and slid through it. I ran down the stairs. She was sitting in her armchair my grand-parents were beside her she looked at me surprised

'Lexie!' she said my grand-parents turned to

'Aunt Danni!' I said fondly she opened her arms wide I ran in, her floral perfume was comforting

'what's the matter , honey?' she asked

'my friend found out about this' I said pointing at the both of us my grand-dad sighed  he didn't have the burden of the fire because he was bald now. My grand-ma was the only normal one but never felt out of place. they gasped and Danni brought me to an orange couch and I sat down

'aw, Honey tell us what happened' she insisted and got me hot chocolate with two big marshmallows an six little ones with chocolate shavings. They all listened as if it was a bedtime story. They asked questions on every detail and "ooh"ed and "ahh"ed where the were supposed to. When I was halfway through my story of my ''dramatic'' and ''life changing'' ''hardship'' my mother rang when she discovered I had ''escaped'' from my room and was calling to see if I was there. My aunt said I could stay there for the night so I could cool off. That night I ate toast with chocolate spread and went to bed early wearing Danni's pink, flowery, fluffy pyjamas. I fell asleep almost instantly.
