Chapter 9:

Lexie:

I ran down the hall and saw Cody standing with Max and Tyrah. He turned with an expression of surprise. I hugged him tight like a four year old who hadn't seen their mom in a week.

'I'm so sorry. Thanks for understanding me' I whispered in his ear

'it's fine'  replied and hugged me back. I closed my eyes enjoying the moment I saw tyrah smile as if she were watching a movie and her two favourite characters got together, which I didn't understand since it was only a hug. Max was laughing at us, I stepped back awkwardly.

'Oh, so you guys are finished whispering 'sweet nothings' into each other's ears?' he asked cheekily in a French accent, I walked over and he covered his face I glared at him until he peered over his hand, when he did I thumped him in the head

'Shut up, Max!' I warned he laughed at me, and of course that made me laugh

'what's funny?' I demanded, my voice went really high pitched and I laughed again.

All day I was thinking about Tyrah and her happy smile. It stayed on her face all day.  Even during class I snapped out of a day dream and I noticed I was looking in the direction of Cody, it was funny because I was daydreaming about him, I looked around the room to see if anyone noticed I was daydreaming, Tyrah was at the other side of the room and smiling at me. After class Tyrah came over to me and looked at Cody,

'he's looking at you, too, you know?' she pointed out, with a sly grin, I blushed and giggled

'what are you talking about?' I asked

'you, Lexie, are so annoying, don't try to pretend you don't know what I'm talking about.' she scolded, I smiled at her  and rolled my eyes, we walked to the cafeteria in companionable  silence listening to the conversations around us. We sat at our usual table by the door and took our usual seat I sat between Cody and Tyrah and across from Max. I looked at Cody, when he turned to talk to me I looked  away and pretended I wasn’t looking, he didn’t say anything.  I looked back and he turned away. I smiled to myself this was like a scene from a  cheesy movie. I looked at Tyrah, she had the same wide smile she'd had that morning. the leaned over

'It's obvious he likes you' she whispered in between laughs

   'No he doesn't!' I disagreed

'you keep staring at each other like-like. . . I don't know, a dog looking at a forbidden bone' she said eventually, I laughed, apparently really loudly, almost half the Cafteria looked at me

   'don't be. . . stupid!' I said

'but do you like him?' she asked

'are you serious I mean-' she looked at me with an eyebrow raised 'okay, yes I do. . .' she laughed and clapped her hands

'yes! I have a project then!' she smiled

'what are you talking about?' I asked, kind of scared to hear the answer

'I- Tyrah White, Match Maker- am going to set you and Cody up!' she giggled

'no, Tyrah. . .' I held my breath I knew I could never change her mind. So I decided to let her do what she wanted.

'Stop whispering, it's rude' Max joked, while taking a bite of a chocolate bar. I looked at him, I reached over and hit him across the head. I could be very violent. . .  In case you hadn't previously noticed

   'Shut up, Max' Tyrah said

'Yeah it's rude to talk to ladies like that' Cody joked mocking him

'yeah, idiot be polite' I said cheekily and picked up my bottle as if it was a wine glass. I flipped my hair like Dana would. Tyrah laughed

'Yeah!' she said acting like one of my followers. We fist bumped and winked at the boys then we left to go to our lockers.  When we were far enough away. I said:

'he doesn't like me, if your so sure ask him, then' I whispered

'because -my silly friend- that; would be too easy!' she smiled
