"Do you think its cowardice that I don't want a throne?" Byron asked us. Our head's snapped in his direction. I wondered how long he had been standing there. "I won't deny that keeping my title as King hasn't crossed my mind. Why am I coward, Taron? Because I want a peaceful life?" Byron walked towards us with blazing eyes. His eyes never moved from Taron. "If that makes me a coward than fine but I would rather be one than try to have something that isn't mine." I immediately stepped in between them so a fight wouldn't ensue.

"I know how to get what I want, Byron." Taron got into his face. They were almost the same height except Byron was shorter. I pressed my palms against their chests.

"Alright." I protested but they ignored me.

"As do I." Byron answered, sneering into his face. "Don't you think that she would be with me if I had not said that she chose you." Taron shoved him and I stumbled backwards into Byron. They weren't paying attention to me because Byron brushed me aside with his arm. I fell against the wall, trying to get my footing.

"Are you going to back out now?" Taron yelled at him, shoving him again.

"So that's what it takes." Byron laughed at him. Uh-Oh. My head snapped in Taron's direction. Taron was glaring at him. "You are willing to be second as long as I'm out of the picture, right?. That's why you will always come in second, Taron. Behind your brother and now your sister and now behind me." Taron punched him in the face, making Byron fall backwards against the wall. Byron started to laugh, wiping the blood with the back of his hand. I couldn't move instead I was staring at them completely frozen.

"That's what is going to be King because I won't be there." Byron lifted his eyebrows n my direction. "Because I won't be with her."

"Shut up." Taron in one giant step was grasping Byron by his shirt lifting him up. "You are pathetic coward that has done nothing but break her heart. You may get to be in her bed every night but that doesn't mean she has forgiven you for all the shit you did to her. She doesn't trust you." Taron sneered at him. Byron lips were curled. "It is going to take a long time for her to do so and I'm going to be there, Byron. I won't break her heart and she will trust me like she always has but you'll be stuck in some pathetic life because you were too afraid to get what you want. The great Enden thinks that all this time you've had her but you don't realize that you've been slowly losing her with the stupid ambitious plays you've done to get where you are today." Taron released Byron by shoving him hard into the stone-wall. Byron only glared at him.

"Those stupid ambitious little plays that you call them have been to protect her since I found who she was." Byron wiped his face with his hand. His eyes never left Taron. "I did what I had to do to make sure she becomes Queen. I betrayed her but I knew at the end it would be all worth it when she takes her throne. Her grandmother hated her and I got close to Iris knowing that if the Old Queen found out who she was she would kill her. I had to hide her abilities knowing that the moment someone took a look at her they would know- that she was a great swordswoman and if they saw those gray eyes- they would piece it together just like I did but I also knew how to play her gifts so others would be threatened by her. I've kept others from finding out who she was for the last two years and the only thing I failed at was not letting Charles touch her. You don't know the shit I've put up with for loving her like I do. Call me pathetic, a coward and ambitious but my Queen is going to take that throne because I protected her. I trained her and I'll be damned if I let you ruin my name. Take the throne she is going to give you. Being King gives you an illusion of power but it never really is yours. It belongs to her and always will." Byron spat blood towards Taron and he stalked off. I stared after him, not looking at Taron.
