In the morning, I got news that Matthew had been captured by Byron.
"He's hard to kill." Ezra mumbled, referring to Byron as Max helped me with my armor. Ezra and I were leaving with the Guard in four hours. "That guy has more lives than a cat. Taron's men have not been able to get near him." We were leaving soon with the smallest number of men. We were going to leave in units. Dr. Nan was going to lead the first unit.
There were rumors that there was large unit making their way here and Dr. Nan was going to meet them. Rima, Amelia, Professor Curt and all others from the Ministry were leaving for the Warlocks where their army would protect them.
"I say we kill Charles." Ezra told me handing me my hilt with my sword and knife. I tied it and shook my head.
"No we need Matthew and that might be the only leverage we have." I sighed annoyed that Matthew had gotten captured and now we had to get him out of there.
"I agree too. Let's kill him. Who knows how long they have had him? I don't think they know we have Charles." Thomas mumbled with Henri nodding.
"No he knows." I lifted my lip with dislike. "When does the second unit leave?"
"An hour. Taron is getting ready to leave and they will take the long way north." I nodded thanking Max for helping me. I went to find Taron who was probably still putting on his armor.
"Hey." I went into his room. Taron kissed my lips briefly as he tightened his hilt at his waist. "Be careful. Taron." I couldn't hug him as well as I wanted to. "Don't get killed."
"You know me. I'm difficult to get rid of." He grinned down at me. I never thought I would see him in armor. He had always refused to wear it all. He had a large falcon on his chest and was wearing a green cloak. "Besides I've got the Goblin with me. Nothing can go wrong." Henri was going to leave with him. "They are supposed to be good luck."
I laughed in response.
Dr. Nan was going to go in east, Darrio and Thomas west, and Taron and Henri north to England. Ezra and I were going to go in South. We would eventually meet up.
"We get married after my coronation." I grasped his hand nervously.
"That thought alone will keep me alive." He met my lips fully. "We'll meet up." he mumbled against my lips. I nodded and we walked out.
"Minister." Taron nodded at Henri.
"Let's go." Henri kissed my cheek. "See you in England." He winked at me and they left.
Darrio and Thomas left with Kai in the following hour.
Kai and Ezra were standing apart from us talking.
"Don't get killed." I told Thomas forcefully. "You have to come back."
"Don't even worry about me." Thomas hugged me as tightly as possible given we were both wearing armor. "Ezra take care of her. We might get this handled by the time you take your castle back."
"With any luck." Ezra hugged him tightly. "I've got her." they bumped fists and Thomas mounted his horse.
"Watch out for each other." I called to Thomas and Darrio. Darrio saluted me and mounted his horse.
"We wait for our turn." Ezra put a hand on my shoulder. I grasped his hand tightly and watched them go.
The next hour was hard to endure. Ezra and Max almost had to tie me up from pacing. Charles was coming along with us. He was not going to get out of my sight. Our goal was to get on the mainland. It would be weeks before we even got there.
