"Iris." I called to her. She was still asleep. It was getting to be noon. She lifted her hand up at me for me to be quiet. "Iris get up.""Leave me alone." She lifted her head from the pillows scattered all over the bed. Her gray eyes were shooting daggers "I'm huge and grumpy." I pulled the covers from her, her belly was protruding from her shirt. "And hungry." she raised her hands and I lifted her up.
"Hon you need to be up. The Counsel is meeting in twenty minutes." I kissed her forehead. She glowered at me and I cringed. She had been moody the last couple of months.
"Your Highness." Max called into our room.
"Come in." I called to him. The door opened. "Help me up." Iris told him and I got up with my hands raised. It was better if I just stepped aside.
He crossed the room quickly.
"You are going to pop." He stared down at her swollen belly. I nodded in agreement. "A few more days." I told him, she was due any day now.
"Where is he?" I asked Max.
"He'll be here any minute now. Ezra and Thomas left hours ago." I nodded, placing my hand on her large belly. "Is Taron here yet?"
"No, he's you know. Out." he shot me a look.
Taron was never going to change.
"The least he could do is be present." I shook my head annoyed, too. I felt a kick and she smiled rubbing her stomach. "I'm not angry. I'm fine." she took a deep breath and he helped her put a robe on. "Just annoyed and when he gets here tell him I want to see him." Max helped her to her feet and I did my best to not laugh as she waddled across the room.
Ezra and Thomas came in.
"Where is she?" Ezra called and I pointed at the bathroom. "You know some women glow during a pregnancy. You just-" she emerged with a scowl on her face. "It's been bad to you."
"Shut up." she growled at him."I'm not in the mood to hear any of it. Where the hell is Taron? I'm due any day now." She looked like she was on the verge of tears. The pregnancy hadn't been difficult. Because the baby was going to be a Mirror, it was taking all of her energy and she was drained and tired all the time, which made her grumpy. It had been a long pregnancy.
"Dude I feel so sorry for you." Ezra cringed as Iris waddled back to the bed. He shuddered covering his mouth.
"A few more days." I grumbled to him. "We will have the meeting later today. It'll be better."
"How is she?" Taron whispered to me as I walked out of the meeting room.
"Angry." I replied pursuing my lips. I was annoyed that she had chosen him to protect our son but she had made the right choice. He wouldn't betray her. He'd rather die first. "Waiting on you." I added.
"Calm down there." He smacked my back and I turned to him with a glare. "She's just hormonal. I'll calm her down." he winked at me. It irritated even me more that he was right. Everybody else seemed to do everything right but me. It had been almost ten years since we had gotten married. Thomas and Melissa were married now. Kai and Ezra had gotten engaged much to everybody's surprise. Taron was still roaming around in Africa but he wasn't going to change. Maybe in ten years.
Amelia and Eric were married and had two children. Their first born son would be Keeper and their daughter would inherit the Warlock throne.
I peeked my head inside to find Iris and Taron laughing about something. I shook my head at the pair and went to find the other three members of the Counsel of Four. She was due any day now.
