Chapter 3

Lamia's P.O.V.

I shifted into my cat form and started to scratch on my scratching post. I remembered the lowlife who killed my parents and my scratching became more aggressive. I finally stopped and shifted to my neko form and I grabbed my Bowie knife from under my pillow. I grabbed my sharpening stone from inside my dresser and started sharpening the blade. I stopped every now and again to test the sharpness. Once I finally decided it was sharp enough, I changed into a pair of black sweats, a black shirt, and a loose black hoodie. I slipped my knife into my sleeve, careful not to cut myself. If I need it, it'll just slip from my hoodie. I shifted into human form and left a note on the coffee machine for Danielle, telling her that I went for a jog and that I'll be careful. I walked out the door and locked it behind me. I took a deep breath and started jogging towards the woods, which was literally just around the corner. I kept jogging into the woods. I had the feeling I was being watched but I stopped to catch my breath. I started jogging again.

I reached a clearing and stopped. I sat in the middle and listened. I heard the usual sounds of nature and almost relaxed. I still felt like someone was watching me. Suddenly I heard someone running towards me. I quickly rolled to the side and got up. I seen a figure tackle the spot I was just sitting in. From the body shape, I can tell he was male. He got up and quickly faced me. He was wearing a navy blue mask with a black substance coming from the eyeholes. He growled and I let my knife slip into my hand. He pulled out a scalpel and lunged at me. I dodged but he tore my hoodie. and stabbed him in his shoulder. He grunted in pain. He tried to stab me but I blocked his scalpel with my knife. He growled and pushed his scalpel towards me. I pushed back.

" You're good." he complimented. I smiled.

" So are you." I replied as I kicked him away from me. He stood up and put his scalpel away. I put my knife back up my sleeve and held my hand out to him. He shook it. I noticed his skin was grey.

" Call me EJ." he said.

" I'm Lamia." I smiled as I sat down again. EJ sat next to me. " Are you human?" I asked and looked over to him. He shook his head.

" No." he answered. I shifted into my neko form.

" Then I guess you won't judge." I smiled at him. He stared at me in awe. I giggled.

" That's so cool!" he exclaimed. I laughed.

" I gotta go home now." I said. " I had fun though and I hope we could spare again soon." he chuckled.

" Me too."

" Maybe Friday? Same time?" I asked. Today's Wednesday so that's two days away.

" Sure, be ready." he warned. I laughed.

" I always am." with that I shifted into my human form and ran home. Once I made it home, I unlocked the door and collapsed on the couch as I shifted into neko form . I groaned as my phone rang. I answered it. " Hello?"

" Hey, Lamia. I need your help with something." I heard Ethan's voice through the phone.

" Sure, come on over. The door's unlocked."

" Great." he said and hung up. Just then, I heard the front door open. I shot up and hid my ears and tail. I looked to see Ethan.

" What the Hell. You could have told me you were right outside my door!" I yelled at him.

" Hehe, sorry." he said, rubbing the back of his neck. I sighed.

" What do you need my help with?" I asked.

" I wanna go out with Adrian."

" Bro, Just be yourself."

" But what if-" he started but I cut him off.

" Sit." I demanded. He did as I said. " Stay."

" I'm not a dog."

" Don't care." I said as I called Adrian. She picked up.

" Hey, Lamia." she said.

" Hey, can you come over?" I asked, glancing at Ethan. He was giving me signals to tell me to stop. I just shook my head and pointed my knife at him. He froze.

" Ummm... Sure, I don't see why not. I'll be there in 5." she answered then hung up. I put my phone away.

" Can you put the knife away?" Ethan asked, his voice full of fear.

" I don't know. Can you man up and tell Adrian how you feel?" I asked, my voice full of fake innocence. He nodded slightly. " Good." I put my knife in my pocket again. He sighed in relief.

" You're scary." he stated. I laughed.

" You know you love me."

" True."

" Ha! So you admit it!" I exclaimed. We both laughed. There was a knock on the door and I answered it. It was Adrian so I let her in. " I'll be right back, I need to find something." I walked up the stairs then shifted into cat form and ran back down.

" Awwwwwwwwwwwe!" Adrian said as she seen me. She picked me up and held me. " She's so pretty." she started to pet me and I purred.

" She is." Ethan agreed and pet me as well. " Hey, Um... So I um... I like you." he stuttered. Adrian blushed and looked at him in shock.

" Like as a friend or..." she trailed off and put me down.

" More than a friend. I know you probably don't feel the same way bu-" he was cut off by Adrian kissing him. They both blushed and I ran back up the stairs. I shifted into human form and ran back down. I cleared my throat and they quickly separated.

" Now that you guys are together and happy, there's something important I need to tell you. Please sit." I said, deciding to tell them about what I am. They sat on the couch and I stood in front of them. " Don't freak out." I warned. They nodded. I shifted to my neko form and watched their reactions.

" Woah." they said in unison. They both hugged me.

" That's amazing, Lamia." Adrian beamed.

" That explains all the cat hair." Ethan laughed but stopped when Adrian punched his arm. I laughed. We talked for hours before Danelle came home. Ethan went home soon after.

" Can I spend the night and Adrian's house?" I asked. She nodded. I cheered and dragged Adrian to my room. We got me some clothes and a few other things I'll need and took them to her car. I said bye to Danielle and we drove off.
